SherrieC's Journal, 18 June 2014

Okay I just realized something. It has been 4 months to the day that I joined FS, and my starting weight was 205. After 4 months I have lost 10 pounds. To me that is good and bad. Good in the fact that I have lost, but kind of bad because it is taking me so long to achieve it. Although, I have fallen a few times, but I am still at it.

After looking at so many of my FS friends journals, I decided to make a mini goal instead of the very large one I started out with. I must say I kinda like this new color. :) Have a great day all !!!

Sherrie, losing 10 lbs since you started here is wonderful. Each of us are different and coming from our own place and circumstances in this world, so comparing one person's situation and where they're at with another is like apples to oranges. The thing is, would you be 10 pounds lighter now if you hadn't joined 4 months ago? Most likely not, so those 10 pounds are absolute 100% success. Another way to look at it...I joined 2 years and 2 months ago, I've lost 17 pounds. That's less than a pound a month. I wish I'd been serious about this when I first joined but for whatever reasons I wasn't. But if someone hadn't made me aware of this place over 2 years ago and I hadn't joined, I most likely would only be getting heavier now and not lighter. The thing is we are here now on this journey, all of us...some in different places that others...but on the same journey. You are doing good and making progress on your personal journey, and it's great to be able to tag along on it with you! One more thing...mini goals are great. The long term goals can seem to be very far off at times.

You're doing awesome! Slow and steady is always the best way - it's more sustainable.

There is a saying I like... "One mountain, many paths" We don't always get to our destination using the same road or in the same amount of time. The important thing is that we keep moving toward the top of the mountain. Congrats Sherrie on making 10 pounds of progress up your mountain and for establishing a new base camp ;-)

That's right! You're doing a fantastikk job! Ten pounds IS a lot of weight. I like to equate that weight to something I can visualize and then I feel much happier. The goal is to always move forward and always try for a healthier you! Kudos, :)

10 pounds...that's 40 sticks of butter! You're doing great! Just keep going at it and you will get where ever it is you are meant to be.

Progression. Big or small, is still progression.

Slow and steady helps your body to adjust better and hopefully, cut down on sagging skin. You are doing great!!

That is exactly what I was going to say! Slow and steady is supposed to be the type of weight loss that is also meant to be kept off! Good job! @DarleneW101 what an awesome comarison!

We all need to go at our own pace. At least you aren't doing anything drastic that you won't be able to maintain. Plus.. you've kept at it for 4 months. That's huge!

my dietitian says to strive for 1-2 lbs a week. personally for me any loss is a victory.

Good for you! It can seem like you aren't getting very far when you always see that there is still a long ways to go. I really wish I could get down to 150lbs but I happy right now settling for 160lbs or even 165lbs. Some times less is really more! Good luck! I'm sure you can get there it's just getting to that steady slope that's really tough. Great plan! Mini goals are great! you can reward yourself after! Maybe a spa day:)

They say lose weight slow and you wont gain it back, lose weight quickly and you will gain it back and then some. 10 pounds is great. I have been losing the same 10 pounds for over a year and am hoping by joining here I will move on and lose the 90 pounds I need to lose.

Just by you sticking with it, and haven't gain shows you are on right path.

I agree that the mini goal is a GOOD idea. You CAN do it. Please don't quit. You will be glad you stayed with it.
