Ruhu's Journal, 14 May 2014

Dorothy certainly had it right… there's no place like home! it was a beyond wonderful trip, but I am so happy to be home, especially with all my boys! The graduation and all the various celebrations it included were such fun and so amazing, and the Mothers Day surprise to see my Mom was extra special and the icing on the cake, but after a long drive yesterday (we did it all in one day -- just under 13 hours), I'm really, really glad to be home.

DH & DS had a nice surprise waiting for us with "congrats graduate" balloons and decorations on the mailbox, his truck & in the house when we arrived. We were on the road at 7:30 am, DS slept in the car while I drove until lunch, the he took over while I rested the remainder of the journey. We arrived home just before 8:30 pm. ATF was not great yesterday as I snacked along the way out of boredom and fatigue, but today is a new day and I'm so happy to be back to the routines I love.

Mom's dr believes her back pain is due to arthritis & muscle strain. She's on a low dose 5-day steroid and PT to see if that helps. I'm relieved & happy its not a recurrence of the disk problems she's had in the past. Those were in her lower back & this pain is in the upper region.

Even though I was exhausted last night, I didn't sleep well, so will factor in a nap today if & when needed amongst my catch up with the household & work. And, I'll head off to a spin class soon, but first will start my day & return to the routines I love in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way through this one day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm so grateful for each of you who are always there for me no matter where I go or how long I'm gone, my family & IRL friends, being back on my computer & able to access FS whenever I want, home sweet home, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love with its cherished routines and for now with all my boys home! xoxox
