northernmusician's Journal, 13 March 2014

(7 day avg. 169.3 ^ .3) Okay, so 168.2 for three days, 170 even, for two days so far. Cute. Where is this taking me? Hmm. So much debate and second guessing at this point. I'll survive... probably. Slow gain is so different than weight loss. Just as spooky. Maybe more because you're eating more but trying to keep it in a very tight range, and the fear of losing control is there. It's fun though, because when you get where you want, you begin treating it all as a game, rather than a necessity. If you've logged what you've done, you can always do it again. Have a great day buddies. I'll be posting a second entry today. It should be a fun one. The journal entry will be so anyone can comment on the writing. I'll post it in the Health By The Numbers group, but anyone will be able to read it and then comment in the journal post. :)

1 lb per week gain is about right for a bulk, less or more than that and its time to adjust. :)

Chadius seems to know what he is talking about - hard to imagine growing more than one pound of muscle a week. I certainly have nothing to contribute about what you are doing but sure do envy your discipline!

I agree. 3 or 4 pounds a month is what I'm trying to shoot for. Can't really tell until I'm a little further in. Changing now would be an outright guess and just mess up the data. 2800 cals a day I would be more than happy with for the bulk. Am I disciplined? Not so sure, lol. Just finicky.

Worst case scenario you just cut for 2 weeks and you're good. Can't really avoid fat gains when building muscle. Nature of the beast, even on a clean bulk.

Hey, @NM. Sounds like a great idea making a game of the whole thing. That way you keep your attitude on it light, and don't pummel yourself for an astray moment or two. It's easier to hop on the ride if it is a fun one. I like that. Keep up the GREAT WORK of maintaining. :D
