Yesterday I decided to throw caution to the wind at the Chinese restaurant and I ate whatever I wanted. It was delicious!! We had four so went for the family meal and I enjoyed every bite. My fortune said I should have dessert at least 3 days a week and so I had ice-cream later too. I did walk an hour and fifteen minutes in the freezing cold so burned a few extra calories. I decided the sodium alone from the Chinese would make the scale go up and so I did not weigh today.

Today's challenge will be a movie without popcorn. I'm not making a commitment either way ... yet ... as to whether I will or I won't.

The latest drama with my daughter? Well she did get a job at Wendy's. Her first day was yesterday. She called and told us a week ago. I asked her "will you need any special clothing?" To which she replied, "I don't know." She called last night and told her dad she needs black pants and black slipfree shoes by Monday and she has NO money. She lives more than 2 hours from us and our youngest is here to visit this weekend. No way for us to get her money by Monday and it would be a day's journey for one of us to drive to where she lives and buy her what she needs.

So ... I started thinking ... maybe I could buy something online she could pick up in the store and save us the trip. Spent a good part of the evening trying to figure this out and called her about 10:30 to confirm sizes. She doesn't answer her phone. So I texted ... "we need to talk to you." She responds on text "what's up?" Her dad continues to try to call, no answer ... straight to voicemail. I send 3 more texts ... no response. Dad finally leaves a message after 11:15 telling her don't call back tonight. Less than 2 minutes later the phone rings.

She swears she was at home. She swears the phone didn't ring. Why she didn't just call when I sent the text I have no clue. She tells her dad she has it "handled" her mom is sending her a gift card from Walmart. Perhaps there is a way to do that other than the mail ... because her mom lives in California and I know she wouldn't get the gift card in time to buy what she needs if she mailed it.

The topper? Oh she is only scheduled for 2 days of work next week. Oh my. So my dream of her being able to pay her own rent for next month (we have to pay this month's because we were fool enough to co-sign her lease and she has NO money) ... is quickly fading. I'm beyond frustrated and irritated at this point. If we were "flush" it wouldn't be such an issue but we are not. An extra $500 a month for her rent is a lot when we are tight ourselves. We are on the "hook" until May 31st when her lease is up for renewal. UGH. NOT signing another lease. Surely hope she figures something out between now and then. Or we win the lottery so it is no longer a stress issue for us. LOL!!

I am not opposed to helping my grown children. But there is a long back story for this child of ours which I hope you all simply give me credit for and don't judge me for my irritation, frustration, and decision to let her bear her own consequences just as soon as we are legally able. She's 33. She's not a kid just out on her own for the first time. This isn't our first rodeo with her ... I hope it is our last.

The visit with our youngest (he's 30 soon to be 31 ... but still my "baby") is going well. It is so nice to have him here for a few days. I swear if I ever win big money I'm giving him a big chunk of change for a down payment for a house or something. We've given thousands of dollars to our two wayward children through the years and our "baby" has not even ever asked although I know he has struggled too from time to time (as most of us do).

Well my laundry is underway and it is time for me to cook up some breakfast (breakfast burritos at the request of the "baby") now. Not sure if I can fit in exercise or not ... as I've frittered away the morning ... before we need to head to town for the movie.

Doing my best to be mindful, focus on the positives, and take each moment as it comes but I have to tell you it is a major challenge!!! Hoping y'all out there in fatsecret land are doing well. Take care!!!
