-Diablo's Journal, 14 January 2021

I didn't even think about it until today but I just realized, these two pics are me at the same body weight give or take a few pounds. ~215 pounds in both. This is an example of why I value lifting above any other physical activity.

Good on you bro. BTW, I took your advice to prioritize protein (40/30/30 split) with yesterday actually being the first time I hit the ratio perfectly. I know I won't be able to hit it perfectly ALL the time but at least now I have an idea of what I have to eat to hit the ratio relatively easily. I'm up to about 177g protein a day and just about 1700 total eaten calories per day. I mostly do jump rope and calisthenics. How do you suppose that's going to affect my body? I'm 6'1" and currently a little over 200 lbs.

I'm going to see if I have any difference in my body at this weight. I fear that I don't.

That's an awesome transformation! This is why I judge my results on bodyfat percentage rather than weight.

Yes, Brian, that's the way to go when incorporating resistance training. When you lift, given the proper volume, frequency, and protein intake, you can make a lot of progress even if the scale never moves.

Kat, definitely not all new muscle. I was not athletic in school but I did begin lifting at age 19. I was 220 pounds with no muscle and I wanted to make a change. Joined a gym and got down to 160 pounds in about 6 months.

I had no idea about calories, I just ate "clean" and worked my ass off. I loved hitting the punching bag and running for cardio and of course mostly lifted. I slowly worked my way to about 205 pounds of muscle by age 25. Still never counted calories, just ate a lot. I would make weight gainer shakes.

I think that's why I always gravitate toward being 200+. It was my teenage "set point" if you believe in that. I think that's why once you form those habits, they are very hard to overcome. You get comfortable and slide back to where you were. You hardwire habits at an early age.

Thanks, Chris. That was a good response to Mosi. Calisthenics are great. The key in any resistance training is to truly challenge yourself. Sorry about the spam everyone, you can't make separate paragraphs in these responses.

That's an incredible difference D! A perfect illustration of non scale victory!!!

Also, Mosi, I don't follow a macro split, I just focus on getting my protein. If you prefer an exact split, go for it. Fats and carbs are interchangeable as long as you're getting a good amount of each, you're golden.

Thanks bearnoggin! And Chris, those are my sweet sheer shorts(only cause of the stretch lol). I loved those things. They didn't like me too much once I gained 40-50 pounds though.
