24 days until vacation. I woke up at 5 am this morning and found the passports. I'd like my weight to be under 190 before I go, but that may be too ambitious. I'd just like to be able to take photographs with my family while we are on vacation and not cringe when I look at them afterwards. Maybe I should tan before I go. Tan fat always looks better than lily white fat, right? I have a really long day at work today. I'm not particularly excited about the next two Wednesdays. But, I am ecstatic that there are only two Wednesdays this entire month when I will have to deal with the stress of my regular routine. My body is not being real cooperative this week. Both attempts at jogging have turned into walking at a much slower pace than usual. I do appreciate my company who has come to walk/jog with me the last two nights, but I am not sure I have been real productive. Monday night consisted of 6.7 mile, only the first mile of which was jogged. Last night was a 5 mile...all walking. This Saturday I have another 5K. I remember when 5Ks were a goal. Now, it is more like a warm up. I actually have 5K races scheduled for the next two Saturdays. Assuming nothing intervenes and I complete both races, I will have met my second goal of completing 4 5Ks between November and March, although I would have completed all 4 5Ks between November and December. I do feel sluggish this week though. It just seems like there simply isn't enough hours in the day anymore. I have been needing to go to the bank and grocery store for three days now and still have not made it there. Needless to say, my funds are low (because I haven't bothered to deposit any checks) and food in the refrigerator is limited. I keep telling myself that I will just eat what I have here. I do have a package of lean pork loin remaining, a package of chicken and two packages of ground turkey. Plenty of meat to last the rest of the week, but I am completely out of vegetables, fruit (aside from some oranges, a mango and a pomegranate), and milk. I virtually have no sides. Eh...Maybe I will just subsist on meat for the next week. There are entire diets that consists of only meat. I did the Dukkan Diet a few years ago. I lost a chunk of weight in one week but quickly grew bored with the limited food selections. One week won't kill me though, especially if it gets me out of having to waste time going to the grocery store. I have dry pinto beans here too. I could make a pot of that and have pintos for lunch everyday for a week. The kids have become a little frustrated. I met them at the pediatrician yesterday after school so they could get flu shots. (Maybe it is time to find them adult doctors now that they drive themselves to the pediatrician?) Afterwards, they decided they would just take themselves to Taco Bell for dinner rather than come home to eat healthy food. I get it. The husband even abandoned dinner last night too. He was to go fish early this morning, so he phoned me and asked if I minded him spending the night at my parent's house. When I asked if he wanted to wait until I got home to fix dinner, he quickly volunteered that he was sure my mom would have something there. I am sure my mom did have food...sugar biscuits and butter with a side of grease no doubt. My mom makes Paula Deen's cooking look healthy. She has never dieted or exercised in her entire life, nor does she ever intend to do so. She probably even fried him up some donuts to snack on before bed. It is literally like walking through Candy Land when you enter her home. I had 4 ounces of pork chop with a cup and a half of green beans. But, I went to bed without guilt. Since I only had to cook for me, I still have four pork chops left in the package in the refrigerator so I think I will have that for dinner tonight as well.

Tomorrow marks the completion of four months since my healthy lifestyle change. I am 53 pounds lighter. Though I feel pretty sluggish this week, I still have a ton more energy than before August. In the back of my mind though, I have constant self-doubt. My mind always races with questioning whether this is it, whether I will continue to lose weight, whether I will ever reach my goal weight, whether I can stick to a healthy lifestyle, and when I am going to fail. As much as I am looking forward to the cruise, I am so fearful that I will lose control of my eating onboard. I will not be logging my food that week, in part because I don't want to pay the international charges on my phone to do so. I suppose I could use a small notepad with pencil. Actually, maybe that isn't such a bad idea afterall. I am so much more cognizant of my food intake when I log it. I know I won't be able to instantly see how many calories I intake, but if I at least keep track of it I may be less inclined to overeat. I can then go back through and log all of my food on here after the cruise so that I can measure the damage appropriately. I am looking forward to having a gym available, with fitness classes. I expect that I may well get more physical activity than I do at home.

Ok. I'm off to work after I do Zumba.

Keep up the good fight FS buddies.

Hey, 2MC! 53 pounds in 4 months is AMAZING! You should be so proud! Looking at your weight loss chart, I don't see stopping you any time soon. So, put that worry out of your mind! Great idea about logging your food in a little notebook. If I were you, I'd also estimate the number of cals in each one (and tally them up). That will do two more things: 1) it will kind of test how familiar you've become with calories, and you can check when you get back how close you were. And 2) it will give you at least some idea of where you're at on calories. I think you'll be closer than you think. Having done it for 4 months, you've already got a pretty good idea in your head of a lot of common foods. One last thing, the book store sells books that have calorie counts in them that you could take with you on the trip. Pick up a recent edition, and you'll be surprised how comprehensive they can be. Before FatSecret came along, that was what I used to do -- refer to a little book. It worked. BEST WISHES! Keep up the great work, and get ready for the trip of a lifetime! (in more ways than one) :D
