GlennM's Journal, 07 November 2013

Hi all, Atkins going well. I am on track. I hope to average a two-pound-a-week weight loss. If so, even at a pound a week - I will be in the low 210s easily, and so that is my goal by spring. If I can do two pounds a week, by late February I will be doing well. I will go swimming next week. Tomorrow - church. Friday - dentist. This weekend a trip up to my sister's place over forty miles away. I am keeping to Atkins, even while going out. I am not tempted now. I eat some breath mints at times due to Atkins breath, and I am taking potassium tablets. Avocados and mushrooms are good low-carb sources. I need to lose, and this is the best way, and my appetite is not overboard anymore. I am 6'2" and muscular but I really need to trim down, and I am confident it will be all well with my weight by next spring or summer.

I'm glad to hear you're doing well, Glenn. Two lbs per week would be excellent results, but even if the results are less, make sure to enjoy them. Make sure your goals are accomplishable - which 2 lbs SHOULD be. Enjoy the ride!

Great goal for spring! When are you planning on weighing in?

Hi Kingkeld and Buffy, I may do a weigh in - in three or four weeks. I will be below the current weight on here by then. I am in the 230s now, so below 210 is OK by spring. I am 6'2" so anything below 215 is fairly thin as I am on the muscular side now. I will be going to the Y over the winter too to swim.

I am doing well. Next week I will begin swimming. With the meds I am on, there is just not going to be weight loss unless I do Atkins diet. I am drinking almond milk and it has very little carbs. I am using diet foods like Splenda, etc. but it is impossible to not use these things when dieting. I got out and I have a salad. I walked two miles yesterday and a mile today... my left ankle is preventing me from walking more. I may ask to see a podiatrist for proper shoes... I am using New Balance. I can't wear boots anymore. I will likely soak my foot in hot water tonight. I wear two pair of socks at bedtime to keep my feet warm. The diet is not hard if you live alone and their isn't junk food around.

Good for you! Atkins should be a good diet for awhile anyway. Some of my friends went on it and they complained about being tired because. Evidently they didn't eat any carbs after several weeks. Good luck on your diet.
