A WEE SCOTTISH BLETHER

Since my week away and gaining 6 lbs, I've been thinking about my 11 month journey on the SB diet. I was pleased with the lovely comments and compliments I received at OH's family "do". Many of the people hadn't seen me for 12 monthso it came as quite a shock to them. It was interesting that those who are also overweight said little or nothing. All the worrying that I did earlier on about whether people would see me as a different person and that I wouldn't know what sort of style I should adopt or how I would feel in myself, have faded into insignificance. I've got a bit more confidence and feel more able to voice my thoughts and opinions AND whats more, I've decided I quite like myself.

I do fine at home apart from the odd derailment but when I'm away I just meekly eat everything that's put in front of me as I go from family to family. My head says that if I couldn't eat anything because I was ill, either people wouldn't give it to me or I would have no hesitation in refusing it. I know people think they are 'treating' you and they do it out of love and not malice, but I have to get a handle on how to deal with it. I stayed with 4 different family members and had a problem every time and even though I only had small portions I gained such a lot. I have to work this out before Easter!

Weather here has been at or below freezing for days now. Even though days are sunny, its not enough to melt the snow on the hills. The trees down the lane and round the loch look absolutely beautiful, just like santa's grotto. I love the muffled sound of the horses hooves and all the different animal tracks in the virgin snow. The roe deer leave dainty little hoof prints and the hares and rabbits leave scuffed paw prints. There are 100s of different bird prints too. There are still men standing up to their arm pits in the river fishing. Can't see the attraction myself! Winter is beautiful but roll on spring.

Now that I've got the last year into perspective lets see where next year takes me to. This has been a fantastic journey so far and I've learned so much from this site and all the people here. I've seen goals achieved and the uncertainty of maintaining (Info) and I only hope I can do the same - no I CAN AND WILL do the same.

Have a happy healthy day
