Wow. Time flies. Haven't been on the scale. Will soon. Had a few days off. Nothing disastrous. An overnight trip out of town for a class. Got to see my best friend. That was fun.

DH and I went to a preparedness expo on Sunday. It was small. The first one we went to was in California I think in 1996 or 1997 ... It was huge! We did see some cool thing though a gadget we can use to be able to pump water by hand out of our well if we needed to, a contraption called a gasifier which creates power from wood chips and branches and runs like a generator so would charge our batteries, some really cool rechargeable glow sticks, sort of like the ones kids use at Halloween but these recharge by natural light! Lots of health and wellness stuff, great ideas to make our mountain home more sustainable if we couldn't access fuel. I enjoyed it.

DH has been working long hours. We are both pretty tired. Work has continued to be busy for me with several extra things for me to do in October. Not to mention we still need to spilt and stack our wood before the snow comes! DHs brother was supposed to come visit and was stoked to split wood. He told us last night he's not coming. Guess it is us then! Dang.

Well the shower is calling me. I have 2 staff meetings today. Oh joy! At least there is no long driving in my future today. I'm grateful for that. I'm in an endless search for balance in my life. Quite the journey and I'm grateful for every moment of it. Life is good, even when I'm tired and challenged. Hope you all are well!

We do have to work hard to keep the home warm! I used to have a wood stove in my old farmhouse. That was our main source of heat and it was a lot of work. Since we moved it's better. Living way out still causes probs with power lines going down from tree limbs. We have gas fireplaces here (propane tank) and just got a generator. Hoping that helps when we lose power. Life in the country. Got to love it.
