Yes, I just can't seem to do this.. This weekend I will be able to buy some food and I NEED to get started and get this weight off once and for all... I get so upset w/myself and don't know why I just can't "do-it" Open for any suggestions... I probably need a weight loss buddy, any suggestions?? I probably need a menu plan or learn to make one myself. I know what I need to do just feel so hopeless when it comes to this. In my child bearing years I did smoke at the time and took diet pills and the weight seemed to effortlessly come off. Haven't smoked for over 13yrs, can't do diet pills (don't really want to) have an a-fib heart. Gained all my excess weight after I quit smoking.... Felling Hopeless, needing help..... Thanks for the ear.... katsmab

Hello, I am happy to be a buddy. Have just restarted this journey after a year of shocking weight gain. I've been reading about the health effects of obesity. I had always known about heart disease, hypertension, diabetes etc but had fobbed those thoughts off by telling myself that I was pretty fit despite the extra pounds. What I didn't know about before was how being overweight hugely increases your risk of cancer. Cancer scares me. I don't want to get cancer and I am hoping that my fear of being unwell will be a powerful motivating factor for me on this journey. Having looked at lots of diets (WebMD has a great page where they review all the common diets), I think one of the best might be South Beach Supercharged. However, for now I am just going to try portion control, limiting high fat/glycemic load and increasing exercise. Good luck!

I am on a Basal Metabolic Rate calorie counting plan, look up B.M.R. and it will explain it to you I have started losing again, as far as exercise I ride my bicycle about in the park and my neighborhood about five miles a day and that seems to be a good aerobic exercise.

You really have to be in the right frame of mind to lose weight. Some people start over 100 times and then on the 101 time, it clicks. If you can't find your motivation, use your determination. Plan, plan, plan! Take it one day at a time and one meal at a time. If you work, get a cooler and plan your meals for the day. Plan your meals for dinner on Sunday. Keep redlight foods out of the house. Get a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day. Keep cut up veggies and fruit available for when your hungry. Look up "Becks Diet Solution" on Amazon and read the reviews. It's not a diet but a book about the psychological aspects of losing weight and ways to help you deal with it. It might help you get started and stick with it.
