Divided By Zero's Journal, 30 September 2008

(edit: I finally got the topic up so I deleted the post from the journal and moved it to the challenge forum. It was about my epic fail in the 100 Push Ups Challenge)

So... yup... fail. My arms gave out on me. This week hasn't been going very well so far:
1) Got next to nothing done with house remodeling in 15 hours of work
2) There are 7 people at my office, but 2 people travel and are never here, so it's really more like 5. Well, two people are on vacation for the whole week. The 3 of us that are left are all sick.
3) My aunt just called me. Her giant dog was just run over, and I need to make the 80 mile drive after work to bury it for her.
4) I've been trying to only weigh my self once a week officially, but I peek at the scale to see where my progress is at. Despite sticking to my diet and continuing to work out nearly every day... I've been gaining weight. My calories are the same, but I have changed one thing in my diet... milk. The store was out of Silk soy milk with added DHA, so I got some organic cow's milk with added DHA instead. I don't know if I'm having some sort of reaction to it, but I don't feel good. I've decided not to finish off the rest of it and get more Silk today on my way home. Is it possible to make yourself lactose intolerant if you go long enough without milk (a few months)?

So, this week seems to be full of suck. On the bright side, next week will be super-ridiculous-awesome in comparison.

randomness1) 2+4=chair

randomness2) How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could Chuck Norris?

randomness3) Blue whales can produce sounds up to 188 decibels. This is the loudest sound produced by a living animal and has been detected from 500+ miles away.

randomness4) I don't wish I was an Oscar-Meyer wiener.

to the bang-bang boogie
say up jumped the boogie
to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat

Interesting about the milk...I think you probably could make yourself a little lactose intolerant after going without it...just like eating junk food will make you feel bad after being off it for awhile.

On the lactose intolerance thing...I think it is more likely that you never noticed how good you felt without it before. It is the same thing with junk food, people just get used to feeling cruddy and think it is "normal". People can become lactose intolerant just as they get older, though. It is good you noticed and know to stay away from it now.

I finally found a store that carries almond milk so I don't think I'll be dealing with dairy for a while.

nice!!

Nope, you can't become lactose intolerant from not having dairy for a while. What is this almond milk? That sounds delicious (and yet expensive). Does it taste like almonds at all?!?! Just remember, the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42.

Yeah, but what's the question? ;) Almond milk tastes like... well... almond milk. It's hard to describe. Soy milk basically tastes like squashed soy beans & water, so I guess almond milk probably tastes like squashed almonds and water. There are different flavors (regular, vanilla, and chocolate), each in sweetened and unsweetened varieties. The brand I found is called Almond Breeze.

I love almonds so I was hoping it would taste exactly like almonds! Have you ever seen Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy? (That is where the 42 comes from.)

Yup, and I read the book (but not the others in the series). The super PC computes the answer to life, but doesn't know what the question is (the question that 42 is the answer to). LOL

YES!!!! I remember that little detail now! Haven't watched it for a long time - do you like the original TV show or the new movie - my vote is definitely for the TV show, only watched the movie once.

Can't really say, the TV show never really aired on my local stations (at least not at the times I watched TV). I've seen one or two episodes online, but it's been a while and I can't really make a judgment either way. I would guess that the TV series would be better since you would have a lot more time to explain the details instead of fitting a book into a 2 hour movie.

I love almond milk! It doesn't taste very strongly of almonds, it's like soy milk but made out of almonds instead of soy. I get the original unsweetened and chocolate unsweetened. I add stevia to the chocolate one and it is great when I'm craving chocolate. I just watched Hitchhiker's again this last weekend. The book is better but I thought the movie did it some justice, but it could have been longer. :) I've never seen the TV show.

The TV show is only 6 EPISODES!! And they were only 1/2 hour each. The funny thing is that it is almost vertabim in some parts - I think the characters in the TV show were more campy and funnier in that strange way the Brits have - those Brits have the BEST comedies! If you liked Hitchhikers you need to check out Red Dwarf (another Brit sitcom in the same vein!). That one ran for years though. Thanks for the laughs with your new post this morning! Good luck getting the scale to start moving down again!!
