i think it is because their calorie intake used to be much higher daily.... like double or triple that.... those people eat whole day everyday for living....

CICO, a smaller person Is more active than a 600lb person. And probably can eat way more than 1200cals and lose weight if very active.

It all depends on your BMR which is your basal metabolic rate, which determines using various factors how much calories you burn whilst at rest thus how many calories you burn if you literally sat down all day. So these peoples BMR was probably the same for certain reasons so if the 600 pound person worked out 5 times a week and the other person only 2 times a week, it could also result in them having the same bmr. I used this website: https://tdeecalculator.net Shows you your macros for moderate carb low carb or high carb diet and calories! Ive been eating 1600 calories a day and lose about 1-2kgs every week.

And i also think its good to keep in mind that 1200 calories is not a lot, and not enough for most people. Those people had to lose weight fast because their lives were at risk weighing that much. But eating 1200cal for most people is not enough. Yes you will lose weight, but that weight wont only be fat, but also muscle. Your muscles and entire body need more than a mere 1200 calories toe function.

So i am about 400pounds. Is 2500 calories that I eat a day too much?

Bulletjie, on google you can workout on a calorie calculator how much you should be eating per day: if your maintenance calories is 2500. Try to eat 2000cals for weight loss. As you lose weight. Your calories do drop over time. My scale tells me my maintenance calories is 1400cals. But that is without working out. If I workout a lot, I can eat way more.

Personally I try to keep my input calories about 80% of my output calories. I don’t go below that because I don’t want my body to go into starvation mode.

Pietersed, you can plateau but it’s very unlikely you can go into starvation mode. Starvation mode happens when you start eating a lot, when you go back to your old eating habits. Your body tends to hold on to the food you eat. Because it’s storing for the next time you drop your calorie intake. That’s when you gain everything back and more. If you do that for a few months. To prevent that from happening. You have to follow a lifestyle you can stick to for life. Diets for a few months don’t work unfortunately. It’s a quick fix that will make you gain even more in the long run. One can drop their calories or they can exercise more to lose weight. But once you stop the exercise or increase the calories. You will end up gaining. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks Pascoal, appreciate the advice.

they could probably eat way more and still loose weight just at a slower pace. their weight loss is rapid because they're basically starving themselves. (just my opinion)

Everyone’s body is different, what works for one person might not work for another. It’s never been one size fits all, don’t compare yourself to others as that will drive you insane 💛 the only person you have to beat is yourself 💛🌟
