Myree67's Journal, 14 September 2010

Well today is my recovery birthday I have 19 years clean and sober today! The best news is that I just got a call from my little sister since she had a tumor removed from her brain on Wed. She couldn't talk at first but is now! I'm soooo relieved! They got all of the tumor and reconstructed her sinuses. I'm actually sitting here crying from relief as I write this!

I started TOM again so started on the 2nd and then yesterday the 13th the Progesterone gave me the most horrible pms I've ever had but am going to give it another shot on the 25th. I have an appt with the OBGYN on Oct 21st to discuss other options such as a possible hysterectomy.... YAY me! No seriously my Mom says it's the best thing that ever happened to her!

Hey there - congratulations!! And such good news about your sister too :) As far as the possible hysterectomy - I had a partial one done (ovaries left) 16 years ago and seriously, it's the best thing I ever did. Some ladies want to hang on to their insides - me, couldn't wait to get rid of the pain and inconvenience every month :) Good luck - Judith

Yeah Judimo I want it out! I would like to hang onto my ovaries but if I really am going into early menopause like they think they're really not much use for much longer either LOL

CONGRATS on the sobriety!!! It sounds as if you and I are going through the EXACT same thing with TOM which I call MARTHA!! LOL! I am 41 and my doc just told me I was going through menopause early too, I actually go back next Thursday for my request to have the Hysterectomy too! My mom had one at 44 and she also said it was the best thing she ever did! She said she felt like a million bucks! I also was visited by Martha already twice this month, she was literally gone for a week and a half and came back to visit and she brought heavy luggage with her too! LOL! Keep me posted on what your doc says and how its all working out for you! I'm just glad to see I am not alone in this!

Well it's at least not heavy I had a DNC and Ablation a year ago in April and that took care of the heavy part! I barely spot now.

Happy New Life Birthday!!! I am so happy that your sister is doing well. As for the hyserectomy, my mom said the same thing! I am the only female in my family that has gone through menopause. The rest have all had hysterectomies! Good luck and I hope the you get the answer that you need to the problem!

Was the Ablation painful? I've considered it but I was told it was awful as far as the pain goes. Heavy is one of my problems but I have major sweats that just start at random and my hair gets soaked! I hate when it happens! I'm just ready to be done with it! Good luck to ya!

Congratulations on the 19 years. That's a major, major life accomplishment. Hope you're still "grateful." Stef's comment made me think and I'm the same way - the only woman in the family to have actually gone thru menopause (with hormone therapy it was a breeze....except for the last 3 months when they changed to dosage). My mom said if she had known how much better she would feel, she'd have gone thru it YEARS before!! And, finally, isn't medical science awesome??!! I mean, your sister had a TUMOR removed from her BRAIN just last week and she's TALKING today. Simply amazing!
