TGIF!

My three year old (Corey) and I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House last night and it was so nice! My company held the event and we made dinner for the families. It was potluck style so I brought bag salad and some cheese and made cupcakes last minuet because someone else who was going to make a dessert could not.

I wish I had pics but, alas, I do not have any from the house but if you click on the RMH logo it should take you to the website.

After dinner, some volunteers from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame did a sing along for music therapy with the familes. Corey and another boy his age wanted NOTHING to do with it! They wanted to play in the play room. Too be honest, so did I.

I have to say I am very impressed with Corey the last few days.
When I was making cupcakes he wanted to help so I was going to let him put the holders in the pan and before I could show him how he was doing it, lol. I know... corney, it is the little things that surprise me. And, while we were at the house he was fascinated with a baby so I went to see why. I thought it was because she had a distored mouth but no... he wanted her toy. Totally paid no attention to their differences (unless you count the toy he did not have).

After the dinner I took Corey to the park and someone was kind enough to take this picture of the two of us on the pier...

I have NO idea of what was going on in his mind when he made that face, but what can you do... here is a better pic.

We walked about a 1/2 mile over the rocks around the lake. The weather was a little overcast but it felt great!

Hope everyone has a great and healthy weekend!

That's great that you're getting your son involved in charitable activities at a young age. I know, he's young and probably didn't understand everything that was going on, but it's surprising how much their minds absorb! Sponges, I say! Their minds are like sponges : ) And what a cutey-patooty he is, too!

You are so cool! I wish you lived in Plano--sigh! Your son is adorable, and, though I have no children, I have watched so many of my friends kids grow, and am completely fascinated by how innocent yet wise they are by virtue of their ignorance of how they are "supposed" to be (adults notice the phyiscal deformity, kids notice the toy!), and yet how quickly they soak up how things work! It's amazing--and I'm amazed that I used to be like that too! My goal in life is to recapture some of that wise innocence. I think we'd all be a lot better off if we were!

Isn't it so true, kids can just amaze you! I say the same thing. What you think they will pick up on doesn't phaze them and they have picked up on something totally different. They will costantly amaze you with there abilities. You have a beautiful son.

I think it's great that you were able to help out at the Ronald McDonald house-- and take your son. My sister and her youngest two kids spent over a month in a RM house in Ohio a couple of years ago. I know it was good for them to have a place like that, but also hard, so I'm sure your company's efforts were greatly appreciated by everyone staying there. Although Corey is young, you are starting something really good with him!! Enjoy your weekend!!
