Cthulhu's Journal, 16 April 2013

An extra tidbit, I did fantastic weightlifting tonight. Being at the end of my 4th 2000kCal deficit day I thought I'd feel a bit zapped going in to lift, but quite the opposite. Yes sir, I'll take that as a good omen. I'm more committed to weights (over cardio) as while I don't have hopes of gaining muscle I want to spare as mush of it along the way as possible. It can be a big discouragement later to have lost a bunch of muscle.

My ideal goal would be to keep this up till the end of May and then ease off of it. But 6 more weeks is a long way off at this kind of pace. I can only count that which I have behind me.

I'm feeling lighter today, I feel a good weigh-in coming tomorrow, maybe 276, or who knows my weightlifting could have been too productive for me to have lost weight.

While I do some recording of weight. I'm still committed to the belly tape measure as being the only important indicator. And the best way to properly measure progress.

It's great to see you doing progress, and it's great to see you having success lifting! According to Nimm, we shouldn't expect to gain more than maybe an ounce of muscle per day, so I don't think you'll notice any significant day-to-day difference in muscle mass, but you will most certainly feel and see it over time. I've lifted a lot the last three months and I see crazy results. :) Still, be aware that lifting and going with a 2000 calorie deficit might be counter productive. If I were you, I'd go with maybe 1000 instead. :)

Sorry but you're the one that got me stirred up with the multiweek massive calorie deficit. I do appreciate your words of wisdom. I'm monitoring this closely and will up my calories a bit more if my life force starts dropping :) I am choosing to avoid cardio beyond just normal walking as I want to signal to my body to preserve muscle.
