crabby Kat's Journal, 29 November 2012

Beau goes to the vet at 3:15 today. He's been well-entertained by a wide assortment of birds and a squirrel or two that visited our deck for some old pecans I put out for them. He's sneezing all the time, doesn't have much energy, and his appetite is down, my poor fuzzy buddy.

Soccer was cool last night, literally, lol. I froze my tush off and it's not even really that cold yet; my partner said it was because I was too thin to keep myself warm. Ha! So I ate a hot soft pretzel when they were handing out free food (it was little)and later had a fudgesicle (crazy when I was freezing, but it really tasted good). I passed on the hot dogs, Red Ropes, Cracker Jacks, potato chips, etc. Lots of people really put on the feed bags; little girl in front of me ate at least one of everything! Dinner at Cha Taqueria was good; light enough that even with the extra goodies I didn't go over my RDI.

Didn't sleep well last night; that cold went bone deep, and Beau kept sneezing on the bed beside me. No Zumba for me today; decided to stay home with Beau and contacted the vet. Baked a loaf of whole wheat flax bread & tried out a new recipe for Wheat Bran Cranberry Bread (with walnuts). I entered the recipe in my cookbook, and it's healthy, but not low-calorie. I'll have to try a piece, of course. Might make a slice of it into french toast (using Reddi Egg) for breakfast tomorrow.

I also entered the recipe for the coconut chocolate chip cookies I baked for Thanksgiving & discovered they were lower calorie than I estimated, cool! I had dough in the fridge, baked it & sent it to the office with my partner, and everyone wants the recipe (for that and the chocolate walnut ones; better enter that recipe & figure out nutrition); it's nice to know I can make dough ahead of time and have cookies turn out even better than when the dough was first mixed.

Gee whiz, my life sounds boring! Nah, I just enjoy the simple things as well as the exciting ones. I saw the coolest birds today; even got pictures of a few. The best one was just for a few seconds when I was in the kitchen; black and white with a bright orange blaze on the top of it's head. I spent some time looking online for the birds I saw, playing their songs to amuse Beau.
