HCB's Journal, 19 November 2012


Well, I saw no movement on the Idiot Box this morning. So, the carb cycling "experiment" may be abandoned for now. I don't think it is the carbs that mess me up - it is the increase in fats on the alternate days - even healthy fats - that keep me stuck.

I have been though the "increase the fat" experiment before with the same result...so, I think staying around 30g fat on most days is ideal.

Weird thing was eating a few complex carbs did NOT start cravings because they were the healthy type; and yesterday I craved protein!

Thanksgiving is here and I plan to have restraint - but know there will be some big vegetable carbs consumed like corn, and sweet potato. I am making Szechuan stir fried green beans - so yummy!

Still grateful for:

- The people I love who love me back!
- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today

Unfortunately it's our year to spend Turkey Day with my MIL and she wants to go out. But I am preparing. It's a buffet and to tell tyou the truth I think it's going to work for me. Lots of different meats are available to I will be sticking to those and a couple very small portions of not more that 2 complex carbs and one veggie. Saving dessert for my parents after (that will be HARD) and since my sis and her boyfriend are also low carb, I am making a pumpkin desseret to take for us. Even if the experiment wasn't the success you were looking for it might be a help in tricking your body and now that you are back on the old plan drop even more... positive thoughts :-)!

Sorry the "experiment" didn't work. I was thinking it might be a good way to jump start when needed. I personally have not had succes with low carb high fat either. I love my fruits & veggies, & really hated having to limit them. I'm sure that Idiot Box of yours will be moving again before no time! And thanks for letting me into your"lab"!

I have really had it with the scale. The past two weeks, I have weighed myself like 3 times. I don't intend to stop weighing, but I intend to stop weighing obsessively. Good for you for making a plan for Thanksgiving! I am making all the pies, but that's okay - raw pies actually don't tempt me to eat. My unforgiving doctor did say to me that I have a "license" to have high blood sugar on my birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I don't intend to go all out, but I will probably eat some very small servings of potatoes and stuffing.

Interesting to hear about your experiments.. Keep at it! :) Sounds like you have a great game plan for Thanksgiving.. I need to figure mine out...

Always interesting about the experiments. I find what helped most for me was to be consistent with the macronutrients you choose, although freedieting.com has both a great macronutrien calculater and a carb cyling calculator. You'll figure it out, to be sure. In the interim, have a lovely Thanksgiving.

Although the "idiot box" did not move at least you now have more knowledge of what does not work. I am sure you will get through thankgiving easily. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
