I implemented some ‘rules’ in 2016 when going through chemo. 1. No hugs and kisses 2. Wash hands and sanitize after going to the bathroom, after dinner, after touching anyone and after we leave 3. No playing with the toys or in the nursery
At least one of us gets sick and usually 3+ after visiting hubbys family. We’ve never gotten sick after visiting my side. Differences: 1. my family doesn’t come if they’ve been ill 3 days or more before the gathering and his say they aren’t contagious so come anyway. 2. My side is in homes and his side has one at a church. 3. His side has a PA and both sides have people who work with the public.
Hubby refuses sanitizer and he got sick this year. He rarely gets sick but has it bad. He took all last week off so he could’ve only gotten it from his side. He hasn’t even went shopping with us or taken the kids to practices. My middle is a ‘sicky’ kid who usually is very sensitive to viruses so I’m keeping her away from hubby. She usually gets it first. The last few years I’ve offended his entire family by asking that if anyone is sick to not come or tell us so we can stay home. I was told during chemo that they wouldn’t get us sick but I had no right to ask this of anyone. My reply was that we wouldn’t go at all then because me, my middle and usually one or both other kids get sick for half of break and only after the one gathering. By going I’m essentially saying it’s okay for sick people to make us sick and care about them more than my kids. My mother in law was so upset and mad at me that she did her best to love on everyone. All three years. Am I unreasonable to think sick people shouldn’t come, or we could reschedule or just let us know so we don’t come? Hubby being sick makes me angry at myself for not asking this year. I’d rather have his mom mad at me and us healthy rather than any of us sick. My oldest isn’t sick yet but feels bad. My youngest says she’s fine but holding a hand on her tummy a lot. Ugh sick people going to gatherings and getting others sick sucks!
Off to clean and sanitize the bathroom once again. Why can’t everyone stay home. We are now so that we don’t get anyone else sick. Common courtesy I’d think! Waiting on messages asking why we aren’t coming. But his mom is still mad at me so she probably won’t invite us to her thing today or tomorrow’s lunch. Yay for that lol. Will be watching the ball drop with sicky hubby and the kids. Please pray that my kids don’t get sick! As for me... I don’t care as long as they stay healthy and who knows, maybe that’ll knock me to 121 hahaha joking 😉
