Eringiffin's Journal, 04 October 2012

Having trouble with insomnia lately. I am not sure if it is related to the herbal appetite suppressants or maybe just a boatload of stress. Going to the gym should help. I am going to try to make it there again today. That will make 3 times for this week, which is my goal.

No movement on the scale this morning. Maybe tomorrow. I am looking forward to going on this road trip but I am nervous about being away from my scale for a week. Plus I will most likely be put in situations where I have no good low carb choices. I am packing a bunch of beef jerky, almonds, protein bars, etc. to try to mitigate this.

Went shopping last night to get a pair of Montana-appropriate shoes. I will be so happy when I can fit my calves into tall boots. Not yet, though. It gives me something to work towards.

So, today I am thankful I found a pair of shoes last night, I am thankful to be living in Phoenix, especially now that the weather is getting nice, and I am thankful that I am able to go on this upcoming trip. I haven't seen most of my family there for more years than I can count.

You could always take your scale with you, lol :-). Have fun, and try not to worry...remember, it's a marathon.

I'm thinking of investing in a travel scale, although I don't travel with this new job nearly as much. I think it would have helped me on vacation to stay on track better. But maybe not. As long as you are not eating emotionally, and just doing your best with what is available, you should be ok. You know what to do when you get back, too. Another helpful thing is to write on index cards your reasons for wanted to lose weight and keep those with you and look at them often. And don't listen to Mom :-) By the way, you should have some pictures taken of yourself, you are so much smaller than the one you have here!

Such good advice on all points, Debbie! Emotions will definitely run high on this trip and so the risk is high for emotional eating. I am definitely going to try the index card idea. Will try to get motivated to generate a new pic as well. :)

That's it girlfriend! On my roadtrip, I had raw almonds (not too many), turkey jerky, my protein powder and shaker bottle, and my FS app on the pone to calorie count. When eating, I just avoided all the starch carbs(bread, wheat, crachers, rice, potato, etc.) and focused on the protein and vegetables! YOU will do great and of course, Montana is gorgeous - what part will you visit?

I'll just be seeing family in the Bozeman area for a couple of days before driving with my mom and my grandparents back to Phoenix. It will take a few days. We will take our time but I don't anticipate any tourism opportunities on this trip. In fact, I imagine we will be taking the road into Idaho and skirting around Yellowstone as opposed to driving through it.

Bozeman! was just there in August. I too am blessed/cursed with huge calves. Sure makes my ankles look slender though :) Finding tall boots was impossible when I was heavier. It's still a challenge.
