bump98's Journal, 02 June 2010

So today is a new day and a new thing happened. I woke up and 9am (instead of 10am) and went for a 1.2 mile walk with my daughter. Came back home, ate and got ready for work. I have always had a hard time waking up in the morning however I like how it worked out today. I want to make this a regular thing. Since my daughter is now out of school its great to spend some quality time with her in the morning before I go off to work.

Way to go...take advantage of those moments while she is still home. They are priceless. Grats on the weight loss. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing how you did on the scale after getting more active. I'll be checking.

Man I am so excited for you, and i think it is great that you are walking with your daughter. I think it is a valuable lesson for our kids for one to see that we think our heath is important.. cause then maybe they will consider their health as important.. But the really big thing is.. I think it is great for our kids to see us work at something and try hard to achieve it. I dont know how old your daughter is but my kids are 5 and almost 4.. they dont get that I had to learn everything that I know how to do.. when I want my shoes tied.. I just tie them.. they have to struggle.. when I want to button my shirt I just do it.. they have to work at it.. and then they say.. well you are faster you can do it I cant.. just do it for me.. Then I tell them to get better you have to practice.. and they roll their eyes like yeah right.. I think they think I am cheating or I always new how to do it.. but with my exercise videos they see me struggle and mess up the steps. And my dear son likes to watch and tellme where I messed up and maybe if I got the shirts like the ladies on the tv it might help. And then I told him that the clothes are not the difference I just have to practice because I am not good at it yet.. I am still learning. Well his eyes popped open like "what... YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING" Then I said that I hope to get better and the only way for that to happen was to keep trying. It has really helped him feel better about his efforts in things. Learning that people have to work for things and practice to be able to do them well is a very valuable lesson.
