CSmittyRun's Journal, 02 April 2008

Let's see, I still haven't decided to give up but Yesterday I ate chicken nuggets, a snickers bar and pizza for dinner, and today I have not gained an ounce, nor have I lost either-shocker. Am I gonna have to starve myself to lose weight? This is not the size I am supposed to be. I know 153 is not fat by any means for a 5' 7" person, it is still healthy, but I used to be a 6 without trying so I know it's physically possible. I want the flab to go away. I feel like I'm building muscle in my arms but that it it, and no where else. I'm pretty sure no more inches have been lost as my 8's and 10's still fit the same. I feel like my metabolism doesn't want to help me out.

Please, anyone with any advice, I would appreciate it. I don't know what else I can do. Everyone is losing around me and it sucks.

I know what you mean - I've been trying to lose seriously since November and have stayed within the same 5 pounds...up and down and up and down. :( 153 isn't a lot for someone your height. I don't think you have to starve yourself, but maybe chicken nuggets, a snickers bar and pizza isn't great to have in one day - it may be easier to spread stuff like that out every now and then. I'm not sure of your exercise schedule, but you could try and up that and it may help you see some results. Good luck!

Lotus zig zags her calorie level and that seems to get her chart moving when it isn't. What I do is just listen extremely closely to my stomach and body and let it tell me what it needs... I think intuition is undervalued in weight loss. Also, maybe try to think positive-- even though its very hard. I know its a challenge, but I didn't get anywhere until I really started believing I was going to-- which is really hard I know, when you haven't been moving in a while. But a positive mindset helped me to figure out what I was doing wrong. I hope you can take some time to relax and be kind to yourself-- as Alaina said, 153 isn't a lot for your height, although I know it hurts anyway when you can't get to where you were before! I hope something I said helps! Good luck!

Yeah all that crap in one day was very unusual for me as I have been very good each week. I haven't had a snickers since October probably, this was just me giving up. I am gonna try again, my hubby is making me, thank goodness for him, but I'm still not losing or gaining no matter what I do. I've been exercising for 45min 2x a week and 1.5 hours 3x a week, plus weights and crunches every night, with one day off. I think that is a lot. Much more than I have ever done before...but nothing is happening. I don't even seem to be losing BFP. I really hate my body right now. I just don't even want to weigh in again cause it's still 153 as my low with my daily water fluctuations. BAH.

Have you talked to your doctor about your weight loss; or lack there of? Maybe it's a thyroid problem, that's more common than people think!

Definitely not. Plus, I just had a bunch of blood work done for some heart problems and it was immaculate. I wouldn't have already lost 20 lbs if it was thyroid.

Hey, I have an idea, you come over and we will workout at my condo gym. Maybe I can show you somethings that my trainer has shown me that may help with the weight loss. It will help just switch up ypur workout routine. Also when you do your cardio, do you switch you machines up, thats important. Also one thing, that I am guilty of is not streching. My brother who is a personal trainer says, that strecting 15 mins a day will not only help your body, but will help you loose weight, do you strech?

Yeah, I stretch after workouts and before I got to bed. And I switch machines too. I do favor the elliptical, but do other machines too.

You are exercising a lot! Which is awesome and impressive! but is it possible you are overdoing it? I don't really have a good explanation for this, but I wasn't losing when I was exercising a ton either. Now that I am exercising less (but still exercising) the weight seems to come off more easily. Maybe too much stresses you out and puts a hold on the losing?
