Im confused on how sleep/rest burned 2500 cals? Can anyone explain this please? Im bamboozeled

When you rest those calories are burnt in your alimentary canal A.K.A. digestion. When you sleep it slows down.

I think it's just the number of calories you burn being alive :)

You are constantly burning calories even when you sleep. It can be digestion, all chemical process need energy. Also, activities that you never thought burn calories actually like fidgeting. Althought not much calories but it does.

Your body requires calories to function. Every heartbeat, breath, muscle contraction. My cardiologist had me go for a basal metabolic rate test where I breathed into a tube. Basically my body burns 2040 calories a day if I do nothing. After discussing with my doctors I'm eating 1600 calories a day hoping to kickstart some weight loss until I can get healthy enough to really exercise.
