I am a 66 year old mother of three and grandmother of five perfect little gems.
As a young girl I never had a weight problem. Ate anything I wanted without gaining an ounce or exercising.
After children, stress and life’s ups and down I began gaining weight. A little bit at a time until I went from 125lbs to 235 lbs at my max.
After my sister-in-law’s sudden death, a few years ago, I decided it’s time to take care of myself, and that ignited the beginning of my journey.
I started by getting rid of all the junk food in the house. I lost 18 lbs just doing that. Very encouraging. Next I decided to eat whole foods and watch my portion size. The pounds kept dropping off. With that it encouraged me to join the community center gym. I did whatever exercise I could do, which to start wasn’t much at all, I couldn’t even walk a 1/4 mile on the treadmill or cycle for more than 5 minutes.
I also joined a seniors yoga class as well. From the yoga class I learned to meditate and to be mindful of my body.
The pounds kept dropping off.
At some point I came to the realization that watching TV made me hungry, with all the very appealing food commercials, so I stopped watching all my favorite shows. As the days went by and the pounds dropped off, I missed them less and welcomed my new life journey as top priority.
After losing 82 pounds I decided to quit smoking as well. A year later I had a total knee replacement surgery. Between the two events I gained back 30 lbs.
for the past year I have been struggling to loose the extra weight. It’s been quite a battle as for some reason, unbeknownst to me, I have been craving junk food.
I decided to try a low carb diet and it seems to be giving me results. So now I took it a step further and decided to try the Keto Diet. I’m new at this and hopefully will grasp and conquer it eventually. I’ve always considered myself to be a carnivore so I’m hopeful this new life style will be somewhat effortless and work for me.
