My young marathon runner friend,THE GENERAL, and her running crew— THE GENERAL’s ARMY Had a disappointing day today. They were slated to run a half marathon but it was called because of the 100 degree temp. There were 10 kids and various parents. They got it but were still disappointed. At 10-13 years old, it would have been too much. Not worth it. The mom and her new husband, SARGENT (to Kimberly’s GENERAL) , took off for some alone time and I took The General and her best friend and running mate to buy new running shoes and then to lunch at their favorite vegetarian restaurant. We had a good day. She starts junior high this year and will run track. She wants a college scholarship so bad. She never thought her mom would be able to afford college so she developed a plan. Good grades and RUN. The coach I hired to help us says she is Good— maybe Olympic good. Now with Sargent, she will go to college— he will see to it. He loves her sooo much and she loves him. What a crazy 4 years it has been and it all started with a 300 lb. mom and an obese 8 year old who asked me to help them lose weight. After MOM LOST 175 lb she went to school and became a life coach and now works for a health maintenance organization. Now she is headed back to school again to become a Functional Medicine Associate Practitioner and will be able to teach me a thing or two as she moves along. A little role reversal. Stay cool everyone.
