Woke up not well. Why? Panicked over the salt intake yesterday and this morning's symptoms would suggest way, WAY too much! Hard learned experience of shouldn't believe everything you read on the Internet; even when you think it's a reliable source, think again...and then do your own solid research...come to find out I do not need to consume 2 tsp. of salt a day (IMO, no one does b/c that's 4,650 mg. of salt, and added to the sodium you're most likely taking in that's contained in food consumed, well, yeah, not good!)

Bottom line for me...adding a few pinches of salt to my coffee and water in addition to what I put on my food in a normal way, and what I consume in the food I eat is most likely sufficient.

And the potassium citrate I ordered will be here in a couple days, BUT I'll be calling my doc first thing Monday morning and discussing the matter before popping that in my mouth!

I find that I almost always go over the recommended 2300mg sodium. I rarely salt my food but there is a lot of salt in things like canned veggies. I also have seasonings that have sodium and that adds up quick. May I ask what symptoms you had this morning? I’ve never heard of having symptoms from too much salt the day before.

Gross...you don’t want to know, but I will say my poor gallbladder and liver apparently suffered in unison.

Hubby had gall bladder issues then had it removed so I think I can make a good guess ;). Sorry you felt like crud and I hope you are better now!

I don't add that much salt either (1/4 tsp) in the morning, and I have a high potency potassium supplement which I rarely use (400+). you should not add high levels of potassium, that supplement is dangerous to use without monitoring. I will be getting bloodwork done next week and I will ask about my levels and if I need it on a regular basis. If I have not had avocados for a few days I will take 1/8 teaspoon. the 99 potency is safer to use but still you should find out if you need it.
