When I started Keto in May, I would get anxious about going out to eat. Especially for Mexican food. But now I try things I normally wouldn't order. Carne Asada, skip the rice & beans for grilled veggies!

@crashtestdawnie yes! I used to do that too! I think it helps if you can see the menu before you get there, narrow it down to a few things you can choose from. look for substitutions on the side dishes. Most places are pretty accommodating!

Pixie68, that's exactly what I do. I plan ahead and then I don't have to spend too much time with the menu (getting entranced by other food items) or get attracted by what I see on the tables around me. Choose ahead, make it fit my RDI, then go and have a lovely time with my friends!

Isn't it so awesome figuring out how to make your woe work for you? I have always been picky / limited in the foods i would eat. Living with an extremely picky adult has held up a mirror to me. Now i give new things or new preparations a try. Turns out i am eating great and like so many things!

win win Jen! @socalpam I had a bad habit of looking at all the food on the way to my table haha. by the time I sat down, I'd be thinking... "I'll take one of everything!"

yep but they do tend to add something with sugar so count on that too. it is minor but most have a little something in the mix

I love the whole grilled fish in a Mexican restaurant. Just give me a little lettuce, avocado and pico de gallo and I am set. Plus lots of leftovers....
