I am not really a Keto person. I recently crossed the line from prediabetic to diabetic so trying to do something positive towards fixing things. Found this app and you nice people. I am just trying to keep my carbs down but not as low as 30 a day. Trying to do the diabetic exchange cause I don’t understand the low gl thing. I would love to lose some weight and the more I read here and look at the food you post the more I think about trying the Keto diet. Someone posted those sandwiches made with cucumbers and I got quite addicted to those. I use nonfat cheese slices though. I don’t much care for sweets. My downfall is pasta, rice, and potatoes. In my opinion there is nothing that can be done to rice that won’t taste good. There you have it. Glad to have found you nice people.

Sounds awesome. Good food consciousness is the most important step. Not to raise anybody’s ire, because I know keto is working for people, but I think it is a nutritionally terrible fad diet. People lose weight as you will too if you cut out all those starchy carbs (pasta bread and potatoes just like the old movie stars); if you love rice, don’t cut it out completely, just control the amount (and do you like brown, black, and red rice? Whole grain everything, cut out refined and processed food). But giving up vegetables and other really healthy carbs is not a good thing, neither is loading up on animal fats and the rest. Lots of vegetables=GOOD. And you have to enjoy what your eating! Of COURSE, cut out sugar. Really.

Never heard of red or black rice but I will look for it. Brown is good plain but not with good stuff on it like white rice. Sugar not an issue. I rarely eat or drink it. I actually love vegetables but I’m not a big meat eater. I do many things right. I started doing to food diary without actually dieting so I could see what I do wrong. I found that calories are often way under 1200 a day but my carbs go over the 45 allowed at a meal. I need to get the carbs down then I will be ok.

I actually bought a bag of coconut flour but have not used it yet.
