Eringiffin's Journal, 26 July 2012

I made a calculated decision to have a little cheat last night. I figure since I have a whole week to correct any errors until my next weigh in and I am already feeling the urge to eat something carb-alicious, I should make it sooner rather than later, when I am really desperate for a cheat.

I ordered the fresh baked chocolate chip cookie from Claim Jumper with ice cream. I tried to eat the whole thing but it was just too rich. I got through about 2/3 of it, though. I really expected to gain weight this morning but lo and behold, I lost a lb.! The diet gods smiled on me. It's so confusing when you do the "wrong" thing and lose weight and do the "right" thing and gain weight. Oh well, I just go with the flow. I'll most likely see a gain in the next day or so, but today I feel sassy because I was naughty and got away with it. :)

I aim for 1200-1300 calories five days a week and then have a splurge day of 1600-1800 one day a week this seems to work for me otherwise my weight loss seems to stall out. So tomorrow night Texas Roadhouse here I come.

I think there is something to this. I mean it really doesn't make sense based on what I have learned so far about diet and nutrition but everytime I do this, I seem to lose weight. I mean not every night and maybe not even every week but when the going gets tough and I feel the cravings creeping up on me, I just go with it. I think it's important that I keep it to one meal and not completely obliterate my RDI, like you said TJ, 400-500 calories extra seems like a good range.

Controlled splurges does help with controlling those cravings, I haven't been able to keep it to a reasonable amount yet but hoping to get that control soon.
