Friday thoughts, I get dangerous when my brain cells start turning: People in the 50's and 60's did most of their eating and cooking at home. We lived in Chicago, and still managed to have a garden and the fresh produce man brought his truck to our neighborhood once a week. The mom's would rush out the door when he appeared, just like kids with an ice cream truck, to buy up fresh produce for our meals. long gone are those days. Cook at home, stay out of the middle isles at the grocery store, those middle aisles are death traps. 99% of Pre-prepared foods in the freezer aisles is made with chemicals, too much salt, and a tons of cheap carbs, even the so called "healthy" brands.. canned veggies are overcooked, over salted, and taste bad. High carb, high fat snacks are everywhere. Go to the pharmacy (doesn't matter which one) to pick up your insulin (or whatever drugs your doctor prescribes for you) and you have to walk past thousands of unhealthy and so tempting junk foods. It's a marketing conspiracy, the more garbage they can get you to buy and eat, the sicker you get, and the more drugs they sell. And just look (or try not to look) at all the junk food displayed at or near the register. And don't get me started with the low hanging "fruit" displayed at kids level, all junk. We are only human, we are weak, the marketing industry has gotten expert (and rich) at taking advantage of that fact. Don't get fatter, get angrier!
