UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

The last 10 weeks I've been working with a trainer twice a week. I've been working on gaining muscle/lose fat.

I switched up my eating to OKL macros. I have been eating 94g protein, around 78g fat, and under 23g net carbs. I feel so much better and stronger since eating this way as opposed to lower protein and super high fat.

When I started 10 weeks ago my body fat was 34%. Today 29.6%

VERY VERY HAPPY!!!!!
140.0 lb Lost so far: 135.0 lb.    Still to go: 3.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 13 April 2017:
2324 kcal Activities & Exercise: FitBit Tracker - 24 hours. more...
losing 0.3 lb a week

I've been reading up on this.. the is it the keto diet? I'm interested in trying it but don't know if I can keep the carbs that low.

Yes, it is low carb. It is a group on facebook called OKL Optimal Ketogenic Living. I lost the majority of my weight doing LCHF. BUT my BF was still very high, had a bit of hair thinning, and could feel the muscle loss. I have felt so much better eating these macros....I'm pretty happy with my weight, but still looking to lose body fat...

Excellent! So what kind of training are you doing? You must be building muscle, I presume? Very happy for you!

Heidi, yes I've been trying to build muscle AND lose fat. The trainer had us doing a lot of resistance training, light weights, TRX, ropes, and ab work. I also do cardio on my own...

I do low carb, moderate protein, high fat and I want to retain as much muscle as possible as I lose (a lot of loss is needed for me). My main goal in all this is to make it a lifetime change and most importantly to get healthy! I welcome any advice that will help me get there. Thanks!

Good stuff, Rckc! YPMO, caution, too much protein stresses the kidneys! I think about 20% calories from protein is supposed to be about right. There is a minimum quantity per day recommended, something like 45g per day for women, but it is advised to have more than the minimum when losing weight, maybe around 70g per day? You probably should read about it yourself.
