Diana 1234's Journal, 04 January 2024

I am beyond frustrated! I thought I was doing pretty good…Apparently not. I need to get this under control. I am back to working out 5 days a week, I’m doing some cardio before I weightlift, I am staying around 100 carbs or less for most part, I’m eating vegetables instead of processed , sugary snacks, and my protein has been good most days… the only high calorie snack I’ve been having is nuts. I have limited myself to 1/4 c a day but maybe I need to cut those out. I’ve had either vegetables or a salad with my meals but I have been eating more “ prepared “ meals than just a protein ( I made a “skinny” meatloaf the other night) so maybe I need to cut that out. My clothes are beginning to get tight and so I know I need to get this under control.

it can be so frustrating to work so hard and have the scale reflect the opposite...I think that the scale just hasn't gotten the memo and a big drop is around the corner 😊💙

You'll be okay. Sometimes the scale is crazy and takes a few days to catch up with what we are doing! I think you'll drop the weight in a day or so.

I would say weightlifting is "cardio". In fact the most effective form of cardio. https://www.hitstrength.net/post/2018/03/29/Cardio-Shouldnt-Be-Called-Cardio.If I want to ramp up my workouts, I ditch the low intensity stuff in favor of more HIT.

Diana, my doctor told me that when you are stressed and your cortisol is up, weight loss is nearly impossible, keep eating right, doing your workouts and try to get in some meditation.....I think you told me once that exercise was your destressor. It's hard to damp down the worry that runs in the back of your mind, and it is a vicious cycle because as your weight climbs, the more you get stressed about that too, it just adds to it. We as women worry about everything and we push it all to the back of our minds and it runs back there like a ticker tape. We go through our daily routines and function at a normal level...but that ticker tape is still running. I have to meditate at least three times a week just to quiet my mind. Looking at your thoughts without judgement or action, lets me let go of the piddling stuff and look at the important stuff without the emotional backlash. It keeps me sane 😜

Tj, I usually burn around 325 calories in bodypump class (weightlifting to music) and I use treadmill, elliptical, and bike more for a warm up but it adds to burning calories. I am just getting really frustrated! Fritzy, That’s what I thought when scale went up to 133… getting pretty concerned now…🙁 Muffin, Isure hope you are right! I’m going to carb cycle today. That usually gives me a 2-3 lb loss. Maybe that will jump start me!

How do you carb cycle for one day? Do you mean you are going to have more or less carbs today? I usually don't pay too much attention to carbs, that's why one of my goals this year is to not exceed 100_net grams a day

Ugh, I so feel you girl. I gained 7 pounds in about a month and my clothes are tight again. Giddy up, we are gonna be lean machines before you know it!

more than likely it's just stress and everything you have going on with Sydney worrying about her and probably little water also, I think it will go down 👇 soon...

that same thing happened to me for two weeks I would worry and pray that my hubby's heart blockage isn't bad and that day he went to have it done and didn't because we were there hours past the time it should have been done so he rescheduled it and now it's Jan 10th but my weight stayed at 308 and wouldn't move until the day after the procedure he didn't have it done but I quit worry about it so much and just have faith that God will make sure he's okay, and have dropped almost 4lbs since then, and now staying at 304 , want to get under 300 so bad it's coming tho just can't stress out real bad or we hold weight no matter what we try to do...

I find when I start working out more I gain a little temporarily. Trust the process, you know what you’re doing

Fritzy, carbcycling can jumpstart your system. It is done by lowering your carbs to around 30 grams, protein up to 120+, and fat at about 40-50 grams. It is a temporary thing, you wouldn't want to do this long term ( unless you do keto, which this is not) It aways works for me. I eat a lot of raw vegetables, salads, and protein on those days. Today will be premier protein premade shake for breakfast, grilled chicken breast and salad for lunch, lean pork tenderloin and colored cauliflower for dinner. Snacks will be roasted seaweed, raw vegetables, and blueberries ( if carbs stay relatively low)

I know what you mean Diana! I have even changed my meals a little and eating spinach with my pork chop instead of my usual mixed vegetables. On Tuesday and Thursday and Sunday I am trying to eat only protein, M,W, & F I am eating my macros for fat loss and then Saturday eating at maintenance. I just read the book Obesity Fix as I like following DrJamesdinic on Instagram and it is his book. It had some interesting methods of cycling your days.

Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat! I am doing well so far but then again it's only 1030! Lol ..I usually have a difficult time around 2 and after dinner. I boiled some eggs as snacks and I'm going to walk my neighborhood around 2 so that I'll be busy ..💜

Redporch, that sounds interesting! Cycling has always worked for me so I would probably do well in something like that. I'll have to check him out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Hi, I would be upset too. I looked at a few days last week of your food log and it looks really good. You have done the work! Maybe this is the gain before the whooooosh down? You are building muscle I am sure. But I see that tiny creep since last November. I doubt it was the nuts. Here is an idea....I see some days you have more meat to go toward your protein count. Maybe add more meat instead of bars or protein shakes? Just an idea. I donate plasma from time to time and found out my protein shakes were not raising my blood protein levels because of the lack of bioavailability of them. I found an article on the internet about that too. For me, beef really raised it on my test. go figure. Have you had your thyroid or hormones checked? :-) maybe something is off. I hope you can tweak your diet so you start dropping like you want. It could also just be stress or bad sleep? Just some ideas. Our bodies are so stubborn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jen, I appreciate your advice. 💜 I get what your saying about meat as main protein, not shakes or bars. I am not a huge fan of meat so that's why I supplement but you have a good point. Also I do have a thyroid issue and that has occurred to me as well but went to Dr in Nov and all was good. I have a follow up in early Feb so we shall see. A friend of mine reminded me to drink water which I've been bad at lately. I live in the desert so summer time water consumption isn't a problem but in winter I tend to forget..and lastly, perhaps stress is more of an issue than I thought. I'm going to keep moving forward and hopefully I'll get a handle on this!

does anyone know if the exercise calories calculated on fat secret are right? it seems like they are really high, but I could be wrong and I just want to be sure if I really am explaining as many calories as it says when I log them in
