Yesterday, while at work, i ate 254 calories from 9-1230. I didn't want to eat that low but i DIDNT eat ANY grains-(cereal, breadstick, noodle) What i did eat 1% milk, orange (fresh), canned peaches, and canned green beans. Yesterday i weighed in at 193.8 so i actually lost 3 lbs. I was ravenous when i got home and got in the rest of my calories. Ended up taking a red marker to the school food menu and crossed off all the things i wont eat anymore. I cant keep gaining weight; and its been climbing since i started working at head start andeating their food.
190.8 lb Lost so far: 26.2 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 4.2 lb a week

I hear you. Work places often serve less than healthy options.

can you pack your own lunches?

No not really. We eat with the kids.

I never eat school lunches where I work. Sadly, most foods in the school lunches are pure junk and very high calorie (wasteful calories). (Michelle Obama’s failure and empty promises). I food prep at home and bring my lunch.

Couldn't you possibly just take some little thing or things that you do want to eat, go ahead and get the lunch they provide, but only eat those things you prefer, and then add the little thing or things you brought from home. I am entirely sympathetic to your dilemma but was just hoping there might be some compromise. Probably it would take a gentle boldness on your part to even bring out something extra like a little baggy with a cut up veggie. I bet if someone had severe allergies others would find it acceptable. I think we all have an allergy to modern wheat since it has been hybridized 1000 times in the last 100 years. I will pray that the Lord give you favor with anyone that you think would feel negative about this. I am eating modern wheat at this time but I get tough from time to time and go off it, and boy does it make a difference! Have you heard of the book "Wheat Belly"? I think we all could say we are allergic to wheat and be telling the truth. But saying it like that would have the downside that you dare not ever eat it in front of them. Better that it just "bothers you". We all wish you the best.

You'll figure it out. Just remember to stick up for yourself and what you need. That may mean doing something a little different than the other teachers do. Wishing you the best of luck.

I wish i could bring in something but at head start we sit and eat with kids family style. The age range is 3-5 year old so its different then public school where kids are monitored but teachers don't eat with them. Im comfortable not eating certain foods but bringing in foods is a tough one. Kids have to be watched at all times.

Understood and still feel hopeful that you'll work it out. Take good care of yourself, you deserve it!
