SherryeB's Journal, 25 May 2022

Yesterday I planted the rest of the bulbs in the garden & later spritzed everything with some deer repellant. I think they nibbled on a pot of impatiens so I wanted to protect everything after the rain.

Today Hubby & I had an appointment at the optometrist. The arm broke off my glasses last week & Hubby was able to do a temporary repair til I can order new ones.

Book Club tonight. We had good discussion about the book. It also gave us opportunity to talk about the shooting in Texas. It is so disturbing. I ended up staying at my friend's that hosted late so we could talk some more.

I also got the news that my friend, (next door neighbor) that is a member of our Book Club lost her son to cancer yesterday morning. She & her husband had last been able to visit him in March 2020 just before the Covid shutdown. He was a retired Military Veteran & lived in the Philippines with his wife & young son. My friend was recuperating from a broken shoulder & hadn't been able to travel to see him.

Makes you realize how fragile life can be.

So sorry to hear about your friend's son. The previous owner of my house (I've lived here 11 years) planted bulbs EVERYWHERE! I have lots and lots of irises and daffodils every year. The deer leave them alone. Right now I have a buck that spends most of the day under my deck to stay cool. I love having deer but have learned not to plant anything they will eat.
