I f****d up, y'all. I was going really well, then I went too hard, injured myself, decided to take a break and lost all my progress. I got super depressed and started shoveling everything into my face that wasn't nailed down so I'm back to pre-pandemic numbers (plus about 5 lbs) and I want to jump off a bridge.

Anyways, here we go again! I'm down 5 lbs since last month, which is a normal rate of weight loss for me when I'm on a deficit. I'm doing IF now. My feeding window is 2-7 pm. I sound like a zoo animal talking about 'eating windows.' Think I might need therapy or some kind of psychological help for this constant yo-yoing? Let me know your thoughts lol.

This round, I'm focusing more on calisthenics and plyometrics, which gave me really good results in the past. The goal is functional fitness with a focus on being able to easily and efficiently push and pull my own bodyweight and increase cardiovascular conditioning.

Appreciate all the support guys.

Well, first off, you may not NEED therapy for yo-yo eating, but given all of the negative self-talk you had going on in there, it may be beneficial. Worst comes to worst, you spent an hour talking through some issues with a stranger, best case scenario you brainstormed some coping mechanisms to maybe go along with your training plan. IDK, I’m in the “therapy isn’t evil” camp. Like, you go to the doctor when you have a broken bone or illness, why shouldn’t you see a therapist when your brain or mood is off? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ IF is great, a lot of people on here do it. And body weight sets and plyometrics are awesome! It sounds like you know what to do, it’s just actually getting through. And you totally can, not just because we’re cheering you on, but because you’ve done it before. You got this!!!

Sorry you are a fatty. Please don't jump off a bridge. I ❤ the 80's, too. 5 pounds off in a month is better than 5 pounds on in a month. ;)

Are you counting calories along with intermittent fasting or are you eating as much as you want?

Not that I’m a therapist (!) but I think the fact that you caught yourself before it got worse & are back here now is the important thing. Good luck to you!

No I completely understand how you feel. It’s A journey in a lifestyle that you have to adapt to. When you think about it these foods are laced with all kind of addictive chemicals like sugar. And it makes us feel better temporarily when we eat them. And don’t let me get into age and metabolism that also plays a huge factor. But if you feel like you need to speak to someone then by all means go and do so because it’s not just your physical health at your mental health as well that needs nurturing.Stay strong I’m on intermittent fasting to and it is hard to walk into the break room at work and not pick up a donut or go to the vending machine but you got this

If you overdid it last time then you've already learned a valuable lesson. you've got plenty of years ahead to win this fight just take it slowly this time. Its not a race. Have you considered 5BX ... as a very slow way to get into shape....

It happens. I am addicted to food too. Every day I have to fight that battle not to give in. Losing I drop 1/10 of a pound, I go off a little bit and let me tell you I can gain 10-15 even 22 pounds in one off program weekend. Mentally that is so hard to deal with. But we keep trying, over and over again. We will beat this monster! We’ve done it before , we will do it again. The worse part is believing we are all alone in our pain. Everyone else is normal. I’m the oddball. That’s a big fat lie! We all are fighting!! We aren’t alone in this fight!! We have good , kind people watching our six, who are fighting this same battle!! We all understand. Praying for you , and all our FS Family!!

I learned that the hard way. pushed too hard last fall. nothing major but tennis elbow on both sides and wrist pain. now I'm learning to take a week off every 6 to 8 weeks of training. put on all fat over Christmas. same story man. today's a new day and as already stated plenty of time. but I have a feeling your balls to the wall like me. I'm lear omg to slow down.

check out Noom! I tried it and lost 30 lbs in about 4 months. it's really psychological, and teaches coping skills for all kinds of stuff (that attribute to yoyoing). I was into fitness my whole life, and nutrition, etc, and I was thinking, what can they possibly teach me, but it was awesome! I think you can do the first month for free. It really is worth it, and this is coming from someone that NEVER pays for weight loss antics, and has nothing to gain by suggesting the program.

Our thoughts and attitudes are so fickle. At times I'm very motivated and, in the blink of an eye, my outlook changes and I'm pigging out. The speed of those changes has always amazed me, and it's not just related to food. How can I go from viewing things one way to viewing them another way so quickly and without consciously choosing that change!

The comment about "feeding/eating windows" made me laugh. Amy Berger, a lady I used to listen to sometimes, had a whole video about terms that get on her nerves such as "spiking" insulin (instead of the more accurate RAISING, in most cases) and people freaking out about not eating a second before the beginning of their window. She also made the comment about the zoo animals. Perhaps you do need help, perhaps you don't. I do think there's a tendency to pathologize emotional reactions that are normal in some modern societies and keep people hooked/dependent on the expensive services of therapists with no clear endpoint and little evidence of the effectiveness of treatment. It is discouraging to get injured and can be upsetting to want to do the work but be unable to do it. Sounds like you're getting back on track and making the adjustments to accommodate that event. I'm not sure what else a therapist/counselor could tell you. I suspect most people have to work to keep themselves at equilibrium, it's not just a state that's easily maintained indefinitely. If we expect the struggles, we stop thinking we're weird or flawed or broken and in need of saving when they occur.

noom is a great weight loss program. they look at things differently. I'm on it now and even if I'm not losing weight every week, I'm feeling better about myself.
