SherryeB's Journal, 25 January 2021

So, I feel like my weekend away was a learning experience as well as a much welcomed respite from day to day life. All weekend I felt like I was being "naughty" eating & drinking pretty much what I wanted. We had lunch & dinner out on Friday. Both meals included sharing in the appetizers that were ordered & a glass of wine at each. I shared an order of fries with my sister for lunch. One note is I only ate 4 of the 6 wings I ordered & we had fries left, too. Hubby wanted me to bring him some beer from the Green Man brewery, so we stopped and everyone had a beer or cider.

Dinner included more appetizers to share and one of my sides with my fried chicken breast with a spicy sauce was grits with goat cheese (YUM!)...the other fresh green beans.

Back at the house we had pomegranate margaritas and I....gulp....ate Cheetos cheese puffs by the hand full....no bowl to measure a serving into to be found!

Saturday, my nieces made breakfast for all....bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits with butter & fresh blueberries. We also had coffee & mimosas ☕🥂 Lunch we ended up at a Hibachi restaurant. We had Edamame and Spring rolls....then soup, salad with ginger dressing. The main course was a huge plate of steak, chicken & shrimp, veggies, and both noodles & fried rice. I wasn't able to eat it all but I made a good dent in it. After that I said I probably couldn't eat a bite for dinner.

In spite of being full after lunch, back at the house my sister had a small bowl of White Cheddar popcorn she decided she didn't like so I took that off her hands. Then proceeded to fill said bowl with salt & vinegar potato chips.

We did end up eating later (we did Door Dash) but several of us ordered a yummy salad with apples & pecans. I put a tiny bit of leftover chicken from lunch on top. I also had 2 sweet potato hush puppies. We also ordered dessert from a different restaurant. I ordered a lemon shortbread cookie (SO good!) but the cheesecake the others ordered looked fantastic so I had a few bites of that, too.

And there was wine....several glasses of 🍷.

Breakfast yesterday was eggs, bacon, grits, biscuit & coffee @ Cracker Barrel.

Where was I headed with all this? I weighed myself this morning & I was up 1.2 lbs. over what I weighed Friday morning....I had my usual breakfast of fruit & half a bagel with peanut butter & coffee today. I'll have a healthy dinner....haven't quite decided yet what. I'm confident in the next couple of days I'll be back under goal. (I was .6 over this morning)

It makes me think of Lonnie who has learned he can have a couple of days off plan....he gains a few pounds....goes back to his normal WOE & in no time is back in what he calls his Happy zone.

This has become a book....so I'll end it here 😊

Yeah I think it is nice to get to the stage where you are confident that everything is going to be fine. It is just food and these are the choices. Good for you. I am not quite there yet but I am working on it.

wow. sounds great. consistency is key to anything. so fun times don't throw us off. when I consistently eat poorly is when I have issues. nice work.

The point I was trying to make is sometimes we beat ourselves up if we stray from our normal WOE and indulge ourselves. As long as we can manage to take a short break for a day or 2 & then resume eating the way we we know we should we should not feel guilty.

Thank you LC, Andrew & Liv. Liv, I hope you can, too. Life should be about balance, not deprivation.
