I was over my RDI yesterday and did not do any fitness - hurt my toe and was not able to wear the sneakers. So I felt sorry for myself and laid in bed half of the day reading a book and munching on this and those...lol

I got lucky I didn't gain anything. So today is my fasting Monday.

I remember a while back I was not able to tolerate hunger. I felt horrible, irritated and upset. I had to eat something, otherwise, it was hell. I did not think much about the root cause of the problem, but now, being more self-conscious, I understand that it was my blood sugar level and insulin problem. If I knew then what I know now, it would alarm me as abnormal body reaction due to possible hormonal imbalance.

I am lucky I decided to go Keto/Low Carb. I do not mind the hunger anymore. It even seems to be stimulative now. I learned that when we feel hungry, the ghrelin level rises.

"The researchers think that hunger-induced happiness is an adaptive measure. Getting food, especially in the wild, requires concentration, clear-headed perception and often cooperation."

Here is the article that supports my theory

Thanks, Bella... Interesting article once you get past the scientific/medical jargon. When I started keto I held myself to OMAD for about a month until the hunger cravings subsided. Then I managed to be successful on my first attempt at a 3-day fast. The hardest part of it was the dread of getting started. After the first day the hunger went away. I felt amazing and slept better than I had in years. By the third day I felt as though I could go further but decided to end it there as it was my first fast.

That is the weird part - our instincts tell us that when we are hungry it is bad, we need to find something to eat. Like our body is cheating us, pretending that it will shut down if we would not provide some immediate carb intake. On a regular diet it is a common problem. But on keto I can feel slightly hungry all day and it just makes me to move faster. Remember those days when we were young and often forgot to eat when we were preoccupied with something? My mom had to seek medical help because she developed an unusual hunger around 60. First, we thought she is just overreacting or seeking attention. It turned out she had a hormone imbalance. It is extremely important to maintain hormonal health. My theory is that it was something that prevented normal cholesterin metabolism - as I know now, cholesterin is the building material for all hormones. She was on low-calorie diet.
