peeperjj's Journal, 28 February 2019

So I’ve basically been sedentary this month. We’ve been running and busy but mostly driving or sitting and watching. Nothing really strenuous other than 30-45 minutes of dodgeball and tag: kids versus parents. I’ve basically eaten as I wanted. I had to not give in to the inner child who constantly says ‘BUT I WANT it!’. I have been eating more than usual with a LOT of treats thrown in and even some liquid calories. One sweet tea and a Gatorade I think was all.

After doing the math for the last 3 weeks it seems that I’ve eaten an avg of 1537 kcal and burned off 1495. The ‘out’ part may be off because my watch doesn’t track anything for exercise. Seems I have to stop and open the workout app, go through the workouts and pick the one most like what I’m doing. Do this repeatedly and it’ll learn my stride and such. What a waste of time! I shouldn’t need an app as these things are ridiculously expensive so maybe they should learn my stride normally rather than having to get on an app daily for a few weeks.

Anywho that’s not my point 🤪. In the last 22 days I’ve stayed 119-120#. One day of 121.6 and one of 118. It stinks that I’m only able to eat 1500ish kcal but my body is probably saying that it stinks that I haven’t gotten off my butt enough lately lol. 18 degrees, 8 with wind chill plus wind and ice. This weekend should be the same but 6 degrees. I don’t see me going to the gym or doing much except cooking, eating, reading and staying warm by the fire or heater! Spring break better be nice cause the kids want to head to the gym. My 10 year old can now be ‘trained’ on things like the bikes and treadmills. We’ve been breaking the rule and letting her use them when it’s slow as long as she doesn’t act stupid. Most employees say it’s okay or look the other way since she’s so mature and well behaved (in the gifted program and a school ambassador which means the teachers and staff think she’s one of 4 in her grade that they can trust with just about any responsibility unassisted with no supervision at the school). Of course she wants me to sneak her to the weight machines. They are out in the open so I can’t exactly hide a 10 year old while she learns the machines lol. However if it’s slow I’ll help her learn some basic ones that I think she could do at the lowest setting. All they can do is remind us she can’t be over their and I’m good at the ‘oh oops I forgot’ and ‘oops I’m so sorry, we’ll go back where we should be’ looks and talks lol. I understand why they have rules but rules are meant to be bent or broken sometimes. I’m hoping for an average burn of 1700 for 3-5 days of that week depending on how busy it is there and how often we can get to town.

On another note, got my glasses. I can’t see and I feel sick lol. Snuck a piece of fudge that I haven’t logged yet. During chemo chocolate and carbs helped so I thought I’d try it but it didn’t work. Let’s be honest here... I’m in maintenance and I wanted that fudge lol. I have about 6 oz left and it’s starting to get a bit hard on the corners. I see 600 kcal worth of snacks in my future. If I’m. It feeling better soon I think I’ll make some soup for lunch. After all I do have like 1 cup of ground beef from yesterday’s lunch. I can just do like chicken noodle soup except use beef base and ground beef instead of chicken and chicken base.

When you get down on yourself remember that this is a journey not a race. If you go slow and make being healthy a habit then the changes will stick. Anyone need some encouragement, advice, need to rant etc feel free to message me. Plz comment on one of my posts about leaving me a message though. The app doesn’t tell me when I have messages and I have to go to the website to read them.

Have you shown your daughter self-weight workouts?

Thanks Rosio now I do know. At least it’s better than the 1300-1400 I thought it would be.

@abbadabba yes. She does 20-25 pushups per evening and she’s starting lunges while holding 5# weights. I’m trying to get her to do squats too. She is so tiny and not strong at all. Yet she was one of the very few kids that made it to the ceiling on the rope in gym class! (They weren’t allowed to use their feet at all) She has trouble carrying a jug of milk from the car to the house one handed lol.
