HCB's Journal, 07 March 2016

Happy New Week, my Best Buddies:

My last journal elicited great discussion about the many ways we measure progress in our journey. I use bodyfat percentages taken with calipers and a simple tape measure. Many use the Idiot Box and are quite dependent upon the numbers, and some also use the BMI - which is based on weight, height and bone structure.

I believe we all strive for the same result - improved health and fitness, and to feel well, whole and happy. I wish everyone progress today!

In fact, I am tweaking my goals, too. May as well shoot for my best!

CURRENT GOALS: March/April
* Idiot Box consistent weight of 165 by May 1
* Bodyfat at 27% by May 1
* Macros consistent: Average 65%-70% fat, 23%-26% protein and 9%(or less) carbs, with NET carbs always less than 20 grams daily
* Consume more fiber within the daily NET carbs macro
* Continue to lift heavier at gym – increase reps on heaviest weights
* Continue HIIT during cardio work
* Do the “crab” move by May 1 – I know what this means!

LONG RANGE GOALS: 2016
* Bodyfat at 25% or less (24%)
* Idiot Box in 150's (85-90lbs lost)
* Increased strength and flexibility

Words of the Week:
“Put all excuses aside and remember this: YOU are capable.” ~ Zig Ziglar

I am dedicated, determined and diligent

You have the best attitude!! Thank you for inspiring us all and reminding us that we are just wanting to get healthy!! I'm going to try the calipers when I get home. Next stop Vegas. I'm going to focus on my carbs, fat and protien as well as hit the weights. I have a "gym" on the corner dang it!! I might just get some weights though for home and start on upper body. I want to put a big weight on my back while I plank and one on my gut when I hip thrust. Lol. Have a great day!!

@Warrenwinter - you can buy bodyfat calipers on Amazon.com. Hard plastic works well and cost well under $20

Do you use a website for BMI results?

Way to go...

@scalewatcher - greetings, I do not look at Body Mass index (BMI) because it is about height and weight with no consideration to lean body mass or lowered body fat percentages. You can easily look it up and see what the "normal" weight is for your height and bone structure. I always remain obese or overweight though because I am only 5'1" - I will NEVER weigh what is suggested!
