question for you. my friend rented out his house last year. there is a huge tangerine tree in the backyard and I know it's bursting. should I ask if I can have some or is that obnoxious? it's pretty close to a clementine tangerine and way better than in the store. although he did hire a gardener for the yard (it's amazing) and they may have harvested. I just want to know how tacky and obnoxious it is to ask.

I don't think it's obnoxious, most people are happy to share. Ask for a few to try and maybe you'll get more.

I would go to the door and tell the renter (in a jocular manner) that you are a friend of “bob smith” and you are so spoiled by having had access to these wonderful fruits that you were wondering if they would mind if you requested some once in a while and see what they say. You could also call your friend and ask him if he would call the renter and see if it was ok with them if you came and picked some.

I walk by a lemon tree that is loaded at my sister's house and I'm so tempted as it seems they don't pick them but I try to be good...

Truly, stop and ask. These fruits on the tree in the picture will fall to the ground and rot. I took at least 50 just the other day and passed them out to people I know. .

Saw a comment you made on switching to KN95. And since you seem super aware wanted to add to your knowledge. There is no standard for KN95. But there is for N95 which are OSHA tested but also are designed to tightly fit against the face to prevent leaking around the edges. Early studies during the pandemic showed about a 1/3 of tested KN95 masks did not mean OSHA standards for N95. Peace and stay safe.

Look up recipes for orange pickle /orange salt vinegar, these are great on salad, over meat and a quick way to save many oranges.

Thanks for the orange suggestions, I will check in to those.

SparkKG— toward the beginning of the pandemic OSHA issued emergency authorization numbers to foreign products that did meet minimum requirements.. the brands of kn95 that I buy have that authorization number printed on the packaging. then I went to the OSHA website and verified the number to make sure that it was legit. Just in the last couple of weeks OSHA withdrew the emergency authorization, not because of any problems, but because we are allegedly able to meet our own manufacturing needs. Like all internet products, you have to research and know what you are buying.

offer to pick them for him, he may be very interested in that. We have an orange tree that we take very good care of, there is a lot of work in keeping them healthy especially with the pest situation too. He may be grateful too especially since you could pick them and your payment could be your fruit? We had a friend that would pick them for us sometimes he loved them. he would save us some and he would take the rest he would eat a bunch while he was doing it.
