Toni Bourlon's Journal, 07 December 2021

Well I don't know about anyone else, but I've decided this time of year is just TOO STRESSFUL to think about dieting much. Not the holidays, but final exams at the Law School where I work. Plus there's just too much chocolate around - yeah, because of the holidays. If I can get through the next 2 weeks maintaining my weight, I'll be pretty happy. I had planned out the dinner menus for the week, even bought all the ingredients, but when I got home last night I wasn't in the mood to cook, LOL! Fortunately, we had leftovers. I'm thinking I'll stop by the grocery store on the way home & pick up some heat & eat readymades, maybe a roast chicken for tonight. Then MAYBE I'll actually do some exercising - another thing I didn't do last night, but surely I can work out with dumbbells & a floor mat while watching TV. Anyway, hope everyone else is doing okay this week. Sometimes you just gotta celebrate the small victories.

Since wHat we are talking about here is a lifestyle change, not a diet with a deadline, for most people, I think a good plan is to adjust your goal to not gaining weight, but to stand and maintain what you have lost. Hollidays are stressful, Hollidays are fun. This is a time to make use of your portion control skills. Eat the things that you seldom get to savor—- skip the pie that came from Walmart or the salad from Costco. You can do that anytime. Healthier eating most of the time and less healthy or less conducive to goal attainment just once in a while. This can be done without deprivation and guilt.

I agree we always fight with ourselves. But we forget that we have to love ourselves in order to move forward.
