I have been doing more fasting this week that I should or really want to. With so many people here - 5-9 depending on the day and with limited food supply, I have not been eating much to make sure everyone else has enough to eat. Normally you only have to worry about everyone at dinner, but my bil works night shift so he eats all 3 meals here plus snacks, same with my son because he is not working, and I am here of course all day. Then bil has his daughter here often, son brings his gf over sometimes, and parents drop by to eat sometimes. Horrible I know, but I usually am not hungry so not a big deal for my appetite when I know everyone else loves to eat. My dh has started to notice though - he reminded me yesterday that he hasn't seen me eat dinner in three days. I lied and said I ate while I was cleaning up after supper. Really, I didn't know it had been three days, but I guess it had been. That is the bad thing about having no appetite, you really forget when you ate last. And that is also part of the reason I gained weight from not eating because my body would just store everything. So I have to work on that somehow. I guess I will start buying the higher carb foods again - pasta, potatoes, rice...they stretch farther to feed more people.

I'm going to pray for you and for your son. I don't know his age, but that doesn't seem to matter these days with some kids. There are people of all ages that, for some reason, think they deserve to be taken care of an supported by other people, whether it's a parent, spouse or sibling. I know plenty of adults like this and I only help the ones that show they want to help themselves. Been there and done that... Take care not to fast too long. It isn't healthy. Water, protein and some carbs are necessary for optimum health. Terra

Sorry things are so rough for you, MJ. I have a brother in a similar situation that my folks are dealing with. I truly feel for you. Hopefully it turns around real soon!

Please remember to take care of yourself as well as taking care of everyone else. You are valuable and deserve the same as everyone else. Perhaps a tactful suggestion to your frequent guests that they bring something with them to help share the cost of feeding them all the time might work - they could bring dessert or a side dish or starter or even a main course. It's not fair for them to freeload on you all the time, family or not. If that doesn't work, then end their next visit with a comment on how you will be round to them for the next time (whether you mean it or not). If they think you might start doing the same to them, they might think twice. You sound like you're being too nice and they are taking you for granted. You are worth much more than that. :0)
