BuffyBear's Journal, 19 January 2014

Guess what DH brought home yesterday? A tractor! No, not a little lawn tractor but a 1965 John Deer 1010RU. It is in the garage sitting next to the Mustang.

What does this have to do with weight loss? One word: FRUSTRATION!

Those damn antique tractors. We had a Minnesota Moline ZTU in our garage for 2 years while he restored it. My sympathy.

ClassicRocker - Thanks. Why is it that these "money making projects" always seem to cost me money?

I don't know about the JD, but we never got back what we put into it. It was more of a mental health for him as he purchased it then was diagnosed and had to quit work, so it kept him busy and out of my face. So in a way, it was a blessing. For me.

ClassicRocker - think for him it is nostalgia (his Dad had one like it). But for what he paid for the tractor I could have a badly needed window installed in my dining room. Thus the word - Frustration.

Oh dear. Men and their expensive toys! I think you are right, Buffy! Men want things that have emotional value to them, not for practicality. My DH will do the same thing.

Mom - You'd think after all these years I'd be used to it. On to positive thoughts for today!

I completely understand your frustration... Men just don't think sometimes... Maybe most of the time! So, hang in there & as you said , try to focus on positive thoughts! Xoxox

You need to go watch the video "She thinks my tractor's sexy" on youtube. Is that you in that field I wonder? Ruhu, that's unfair. We men do think. We just think differently. :)

Wholefoodnuts - Don't get me wrong, I love antique tractors. I just have different priorities.

Rocky - Yes, for your sake I hope he collects small things.

Northernmusician - Thank you. Yes "different" would describe us. But, I beat you to the punch. I already told him last night that I thought his tractor was sexy!

believe I do have other ones as well lol I have 5 antique sewing machines. -- but an old jd is a find. Everyone has their thing. One of my daughters, her husband, her kids, and a few friends are building her a new competition mud truck this winter. She's one of the top women mud racers in the mid west. She is so anxious to drive it

Wholefoods - I won't mention that to DH because I'm sure mud racing is right up his alley!

Restoration? Or the beginning of a retirement business??? Maybe he can use it to go get you that dining room window - LOL!

Sandy - what happens when he sells them is the money goes into the next "project". But, if this is the only thing I have to complain about then life must be pretty good!
