Katsolo's Journal, 22 December 2020

My neighbor just brought me this huge gift basket full of goodies. Showing it here for accountability since having no one in the house means I don't have to hide it away under the bed or in the freezer. Or shall we try the 20,000 calorie challenge so that the body just can't absorb them all??? Nah, I'd rather enjoy, although the bag of homemade cookies is going to be the hardest to resist in larger numbers. I'm so happy to have more good wine in the house. That's a lot of extra steps I'm going to have to take. Happily now. I miss my friends and neighbors so much, I actually communicate more with you guys than them sometimes, lately. Do something randomly unexpected for someone because this really did make my day.

It's a good thing the calorie goal on that monthly challenge is so high at 22,000 calories. I'm way too excited about treats in the house. That said, there is a perfectly ripe pineapple and a gorgeous pomegranate in there, so not everything is calorie dense. With the exception of parties, I'm pretty good at moderating my alcohol intake, so will enjoy sipping the wine.

I just put the cookies in the deep freezer and stashed the truffles up and away. made and ate a good dinner. going to stick to the normal plan for the rest of the night. except for a glass of wine, but an open bottle I need to finish first. gluhwein.

I know we shouldn't make rewards of food, but it is hard to just forget they are there. Perhaps planning ahead in your calorie allotment or time for an extra workout so you can enjoy one a day without the guilt. I made banana and cocoa mash and froze them in little mounds as a sweet treat at the end of the day when I stuck to my diet plan. It was hard to for go all sweets in the beginning. The basket was a lovely idea and yes, it would be wonderful to lift some spirts on Christmas Day. I was thinking of taking a couple of unused gifts and regifting them as a secret Santa game in a seniors apartment building. We are under lockdown and some live alone. The game would be to keep the gift bag or pass it along to another resident. We all have stuff sitting in the closet....another man's junk is another man's treasure! Replace the item with another! Someone may not be able to eat the chocolates someone gave them as a gift, but they may like that sofa throw! Hopefully it will be a game that puts a smile on several faces. Be a kid again, knock and run!
