Friend.. every time I see beautiful seared tuna on here, I ask how it was done and I get, it was in the freezer section 😂🤣👌🙌 we tried to do it i the summer on our own. It was good but not the beautiful pink that you find in the freezer section. So I would think a hard sear, both sides with a crusted spice blend and then baby it.

Agreed! Seems so easy and the taste, if done right is flipping out of this world! Better than the best rare aged steak if you ask me. I just need to do it so I have a starting point and build from there. Thanks JC!

It’s as easy as this. Heat your pan, season your tuna (salt & pepper) you can use oil (you don’t need much) or a mixture of butter and oil, put oil in the pan, let it get hot , (not to hot to where it’s smoking or burning) then place your tuna in the pan 1 to 1.5 minutes per side for rare. Cook more if desired!

I've had fresh tuna many ways, yet still prefer it out of a can.

Hot pan, cold oil and use a timer. If you want it pink inside, start at about one and a half minutes per side. If it’s a thick steak, start at two.

I just bought a cinder grill and cooked a tuna steak tonight. It slow cooked for 30 minutes and then I seared it for 45 seconds. It was my first time cooking tuna and it was good.

I only had tuna steak one time and it was perfect and rare. I wish it was in front of me now. I hope it turned out fantastic. :0)
