Fritzy 22's Journal, 11 October 2019

I'm back! The power went out at 3:50am Wednesday and came back on at 9pm Thursday, last night. So nearly 2 full days. I will probably toss most of what's in the refrigerator and some from the freezer. Eggs, mayonnaise, milk, very little produce, frozen shrimp that isn't frozen any more. Glad I'd been trying to use up the stuff in the freezer for the past 2 months or so. There was very little wind during the power outage. Can't figure out what PG&E was thinking. And the wind in our area was forecast for late afternoon Wednesday, so why they shut the power off at 4am, at least 12 hours before there was even a breeze, makes no sense. But at least the weather was nice and cool, even cold at night. I feel like I can always add extra blankets and quilts when it's cold, but when the power goes out when it's 100 degrees outside, and reaches almost 90 inside, that's when I can't deal with it.
Spending today trying to catch up on sleep and may have a little cold. I think I slept with a window open when it was really cold outside and didn't realize it.

Glad you are fine. Bummer about the food. It can be hard to predict nature for sure. Take care. Have some soup for your cold maybe??

Glad to here you are OK and so is your home! That is the most important for sure. Sorry the food spoiled. 😕 I hope the cool weather lasts and there will be less and less concern about fires in your area.

I feel so bad for you hunny with what your area is going through. I have been praying for God to keep all of you safe.

Thanks everyone. Nothing happened here, just no power. I feel really lucky after seeing all the news coverage in Southern California with huge fires apparently started by the Santa Ana winds. Well, a million of us were inconvenienced with the power outage, but at least no big fires. Very little food to get rid of. The eggs may be okay - I kept ice on top of the carton and next to it. The milk is fine, had a big gallon bottle of frozen water on each side of it. Just feel like I should toss the may and the shrimp (shrimp smells funny even when it's good!). I have more mayo in the pantry.
