flagchic's Journal, 23 July 2017

Wow.

It's July 2017. I first started a weight loss journey in December 2011. I lost 75 pounds in my first year with the support from this website, working out four times weekly, and rigorous calorie monitoring. I was so healthy and happy. I looked and felt great.

You can see the weight bouncing up and down in my journal entries here. At some point I felt like I had made my goal and I could be less strict with myself. Like I could maintain a healthy weight by not working out at all and not watching what I ate.

What a dope!

I was at my lowest of 190 by September 2012. In the years since...

I was unhappily married, turned to food and going out and drinking to feel better. Got a divorce, sold my house, had a major career change and several moves, got into a serious relationship with a man I'm so happy with, but also now in this first relationship year food was central to our courtship. Going out to restaurants, snacking at movies, drinking at sports games, going out to the bars and being social. This all added up to a huge weight gain.

Man,
Oh man.

Back to 245.8. I'm so embarrassed. I wanted so much more for myself. I've gained back 60 pounds. The clothes I was so happy to fit in once can't even button anymore.

Here's to second tries, and second chances.
