If he was diabetic it would have been a different story. Insulin causes weight gain and eating just ice cream would cause a T2D to be releasing a lot of extra insulin that their body is resistant to. For EVERYONE. Sorry, there have been zero studies where fat gain/loss was any different when protein is equated whether the remaining calories came from fat or carbs.
