Any views on last nights Carte Blanche about 1 meal a day?

I have been looking around on the web a bit this morning and here is some of what I have found.

Let me know if any of you do this? or have done this?

Eager to hear what people have to say

Thought the clip was awesome. I can only manage 1 meal a day once a week...other days like to do 16:8...I love food too much!! I know quite a few people on here do the one meal a day. Sure they will chime in here with their comments :)

It was a really good coverage of what we already do called Intermittent Fasting with the variation showed on Carte Blanche as 24 hour fasts instead of our usual 16:8 (16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window). I loved how the dietician kept saying that its not a good thing to do yet so many of us have succeeded by doing it :D Then the whole shocking revelation(well not so shocking to us) about breakfast being important was made up by cereal companies that wanted to ensure they sell their cereals.

Yep and on that note of cereal companies.... The sugar and fizzy drink industry no different. They don't care that their products are poison in the human body. It's all about the $$$$$ Shame the poor dietitian actually looked a little silly. Was super chuffed to see the Prof. He really knows his stuff :)

Yes loved watching it and definitely gearing myself up to start living like that!! Want to give it a try, I have never been a breakfast eater so always skip breakfast. Just eat 2 meals a day but sure I can bring it down to one.

I did not see the program, but I've started eating only one meal a day since May 2016 and I will never look back. On weekends I will have my lunch & dinner, but week days only dinners... I was really surprised at how easily I adapted, going from someone who became 'hangry' when I didn't eat, to going from someone who can't imagine having a lunch at work ever again...

I started today, after watching the show last night, a lot of what the prof said really made sense and explained a lot about weight gain and so on. I have to admit, it really is not as hard as I thought it would be. I had a small apple at about 2 but I am feeling wonderful actually. If it carries on like this, it could be the answer for me.

I missed it :(.How are you able to get all your calories in to just 1 meal? I started two a day yesterday and even then I'm only getting half the calories I should be.

Samukeliso the main goal for most people is weight/fat loss so by not getting 100% of their RDI calories they will be in a calorie deficit which will cause weight/fat loss. So for example if your RDI is 2500 calories and you only eat 1500 calories in your one meal then you are in a deficit of 1000 calories which your body will get from its body fat. If you are already at your goal fat percentage then you simply eat high fat/protein foods in your meal to achieve your calorie goal for the meal. Planning is crucial.

didn't watch it but that sounds like the warrior diet to me which is another form of IF. I'll stick to 16:8 for now.

Works for me but you can not eat what you want, I always eat only once a day and I acctually gaine weight from 118kg to 136kg in 2 years, I still eat once a day but healthier foods like chicken, tuna and vegies. Eating healthier let me loose 8kg in one month. Also I think you have to exercise for this to work if you eat once a day what ever you want.

Ohh I can never eat once a day!!!!!!!!! Ill die seriously. I eat like 4 to 5 times a day. Must have my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also snacks in-between my meals.

Thenjiwe we all thought the same thing before trying to do so. My last meal was on Sunday night and its almost 4pm(on Tuesday) and I have not eaten since then. You definitely can do it but you fail alot as your body adapts and then in time it becomes super easy to do :)

Nobody can claim to have the best eating plan. There are over 7 billion people on the planet. From morbidly obese, obese, people trying to loose major weight to ones wanting to trim, athletes from amateur to professional, physique competitors to body builders. There will never be one plan fits all, you need to find out what works best for you.

Seeing that actually got me to change my eating habits a bit, hubby and I starting skipping breakfast from then, so today is only day 3, and for lunch only salad with low calorie intake. I have been following the LCHF diet for almost 3 years now, and lost some weight in the beginning but since then NOTHING, haven't gained but also haven't lost anything. Now I realize it is because I was eating much more than the target calories given by this website to lose weight. Hopefully now I will start seeing some changes.

Leksie what did you loose from May 2016 with just one meal a day?

I lost about 6 kg. But my diet wasn't clean at all. I had lots of carbs in between on weekends and so on. I'm sure if I kept it 100% healthy it would've been more.

I agree fully with you BDaniel; there can never be a one plan fits all; you just need to try everything and eventually you will get what works for you; like with me I only loose weight when eating more veggies and less protein; and the golden rule nowadays is to have more protein which doesn't work for me, so the best thing is to keep on trying I think.

@Ilze Venter I think you will be delighted with your results. Anything that creates a calorie deficit can only be a good thing. Most of us have enough stored fat for the body to feast on. Good luck! @BDaniel and @ Mamngalo....I could not agree more...different things work for different people. It is only after trial and error that we can find what works best for our bodies needs and gives the desired results.
