pkgardner's Journal, 13 December 2011

Ok, so I had a loss today of two pounds which is great. It's been 11 days since the last drop. I've noticed that now, (after 4.5 months into this weight loss thing), I tend to have a stretch of 10 to 20 days where I stay steady and then I will gain a pound or two right before I drop several pounds. It's just an interesting observation. It's happened four times so far. I am not doing a spike diet or anything different, just steady calorie counting and staying around an average of 1700-1800 cals a day. And the last two drops have happened without any significant exercise. Just strange I think. But I'll take it.

I've noticed the same thing on my journey. I call them "plateaus." Seems to be more common with old fashioned calorie counting or just plain eating in moderation. Patience and consistency is the key with us. As long as we maintain our course, the averages work out for us in the long run. Keep up the good work; you're doing awesome!

I think we all see them. It's strange. What is even more strange to me is that when I plateu and start getting really frustrated, THAT's when people start noticing that I lost more weight. Do you experience the same?

DairyKing, yes I think that's when most people quit is when they hit that plateau and don't see any scale results. Like you said, it's all about patience and consistency. But it sure is hard!! Kingkeld, I have noticed myself that my body continues to shrink even when I am on a plateau. That's pretty cool to know things are still moving even when the scale is not. It's all such an interesting and educational journey. Thanks for your comments!

I am also on a plateau, quite frustrating since I had been losing consistently until now. But you are right, my clothes are looser than just last week, so I know that there are subtle changes going on. I need to be more consistent in measuring myself, that may keep me more focused when I reach these plateaus. Good luck to you all, thanks for posting this!
