I will say CR is correct. Some physicians and GYN Specialists aren't that helpful in regards to these situations. I got very little help or info from my regular physician. When I was asking her questions she looked at me and told me to just stay active after shrugging her shoulders. She did give me a Rx for a cream which I've decided not to use because I don't like synthetic drugs unless they are absolutely necessary. My dietary changes seem to be helping my symptoms and weight is coming off. Agree with DF.

Well for starters 5 smalls meals a day is not the way to go especially if you are starting the change of life. See my post from today and get yourself on the Sole' and even if you are not a coffee drinker find a way to get coconut oil into your diet. One of the biggest issues with people overweight and starting the change of life is we are conditioned to believe we need to eat 3 times a day or 5 times a day and this is WRONG! The key to getting you in balance is eating real food and eating real food only when you are hungry so if you are hungry 5 times every day I say go for it but I do not believe you are you may just think you are. Get over to DietDoctor.com and try the LCHF program for 30 or 60 days. There is no charge for the program and it will condition you to eat when you are actually hungry. In the beginning you still think you are hungry but once you get in stride with eating Real Food you will know when to eat because you are actually hungry and when not to eat out of bad habit. Hormonal imbalance especially in women starts because of the chemicals the food industry is putting into your food. More and more women are starting this process younger and younger because of these chemicals (i.e. MSG, Carrageenan along with any of the ine's and ate's ) become aware of what you are putting in your body and the more natural and real it is the sooner your body will react in a positive way and you will find a HUGE difference in your Hot Flashes, Night Sweats and Chills but you will have to give the LCHF program a chance to show you the change I estimate 60 days but you will see a difference in about 2 weeks. Congrats to your Son and you look like a perfect candidate for LCHF as the first thing to go is your spare tire! Also be sure and get on the Sole' the Himalayan Pink salt has health benefits beyond belief and 91 minerals the body needs that come from not other source (throw out all white iodized salt it is killing us too). I wish you all the success in the World but before you can have success you must put in the work...Best of Luck! P.S. I know you can do this as your Son is an overachiever and so must his Mom be...Go4it!

Hey JoeSixPac, Redgirl1974 has lost 119 pounds on LCHF - she knows what to do next that will work for her. Just saying if you actually knew her, you would not be suggesting such things to her.

Congrats on your son, he sounds like a bright guy. You both look great, CONGRATULATIONS!

So here is my question if she is truly on LCHF what is she doing eating 5 small meals a day. That sure sounds like the old Food Pyramid bulls##t handed out by every Dietician in the land. LCHF means eat when you are hungry not on any particular schedule and in order to get 5 small meals in daily you would require a pretty rigid schedule!

Okay, let's not attack her diet implementation that made her one of the FS female superstars. She's struggling with some other life changes right now and trying to find a new balance, but that doesn't call her results to date into question at all.

I meant to say her methods to date.

Yeah, I went through that. Your hormones are out of balance right now, it will adjust. I took over the counter soy product for hot flashes for 3 months. That calmed them down and my hormones leveled out. You'll be okay. Drink lots of water and eat good fats.

"This question is for the ladies but guys if you have some positive input, please chime in.. Does meno or pre meno affect you appetite." ~Redgirl. Let's be positive and respect her wishes. Agree with Kpwcalories.

OH my, JoeSixPac - there are many ways to do ketogenic plans - not just your way. I am happy you have been successful - and many of us also have been successful using dietdoctor.com, too. And we all modify to suit our lifestyles.

I'm in pre-meno still at 53 and I am hungry all of the time. I will look into that lchf diet to see if that will help me with all of this weight that I have gained with Meno. I just find it so hard to stick with, buy I will try. Congrats on your weight loss!

Meno is a weird time of life; what happens to oneself is like being on a roller coaster! I can offer what I used to do when the "incurable hungries" used to hit me; I would drink a glass of water with some lemon in it. Sometimes, it would work and others not so much. Good luck! You will find what you need to do to work through this. Your determination to stay the course of your journey is so inspiring!

@RadarContact.......I like the part about buying the significant other something nice. LOL. Gifts and favors will buffer the rollercoaster ride for sure. There is no specific age per se that a woman can go into menopause.
